Indbios Made Me Cry :(
« on: December 26, 2004, 12:57:00 AM »

Okay, so I have a v1.0 box with a tsop flash thats been working successfully for close to a year.  Loved it to death, and flashed to indbios and ran it for about a month and a half.  I then tried to inject my cfg file into the 5003.6, and successfully did so.  I then resized the bios AFTER INJECTING to 1024, and then tried to flash my bios with it.  Now, it FRAGs.  :(  and I dont know what i did wrong....  I started to do the 3 wire mod, but the little solder points for a18 and a19 popped off the board, so now I cant solder anything to them....and this makes me sad....anybody know what could be going on?  thanks in advance

that's why people with a flashed TSOP shouldn't mess with modified bioses. recovering is hell.
your best bet is to send it to someone who can install a 29 wire mod and reflash the tsop, or forget about the tsop and get a decent lpc modchip.
considering you managed to kill the A18/A19 points, I suggest you DON'T try soldering it yourself.

if I'm reading this right what you seem to be suggesting is that I don't have the ability to solder.  Well, I am a very capable solderer, I modify PGMFI ECU's on a daily basis.  What happened is that there is simply no solder left on the board on those points.  Now I have access to a xenium chip, and have considered booting and pulling it.  any further helpful information?

This won't be much help to your current situation, but can be REAL handy in the future.

Once you get it back up and running...

I recommend installing a switch for your TSOP, that way you can flash 2 separate 512 bioses to it. This is a nice little safety, in case you do happen to get a bad flash or something. You can switch to the other bios to boot, and then after it boots, you can switch to the bad flash (without rebooting) and reflash it.

Installing a switch for TSOP can be found in the tutorials section.
