Hi there,

I've been trying to unlock my xbox using the Ndure 1.1 installer for 007, but I have come accross a problem.

I can load the save game fine and get to the menu to install UnleashX or EvolutionX.  When I choose to install UnleashX I come accross the following error message:

An error has occured while extracting 'f'.
Error code: 0

Would you liike to view the log file?

When I look at the log file it reads as follows:

Unrar FAILED "files\xboxdash.rar".
Error code: 0
END Unrar operation

Then when I reboot my xbox it comes up with Error 13.

Anyone have any ideas what is going on and why I am having this problem?  I'm pretty sure I have followed the installation guide to the letter.

Any help is most appreciated.

Why are you trying to unlock your hdd?  I thought that was a no-no for softmods?

edit:  Another post (at this time, immediately after this one) is also having an error 13 issue.  Look here.

did you unrar anything besides the udata.zip?

I wasn't trying to unlock my hdd, I was just trying to install the softmod so that I can get media center on my xbox.

I'm pretty sure that my error 13 is due to the incomplete installation of UnleashX, so I think it is a different problem than the other guy posting before me.

I didn't manually unrar anything, should I have?  All I did was put the save game on to my hdd (using an Action Replay), ran the game, activated the save game and got to the main installation menu.  From there I backed up my EEPROM and chose the option to install the softmod (UnleashX). The installation failed very near the end.

I went looking for the xboxdash.rar file, and was able to open it from within windows, so I know that file appears to be valid.

Did I do anything wrong?

I've only tried the basic install so far.  I'll try the minimum install tonight.

I've just tried the minimum install and it all seems to install without any errors.  The installation makes it all the way through to the dialog box that says the only thing left to do is to activate the shadow of C.  When I restart my xbox I go straight to ERROR 13  

I've tried this with both UnleashX and EvolutionX.  With the minimum install I don't get the error that I was getting previously, but I do get ERROR 13 on reboot.

One thing I noticed was my hard drive space seemed really low.  Before I started to the install of UnleashX (or EvolutionX) I had 325.89MB free on my C drive.  After installation I only had 0.19MB free on my C drive.   Do you think it is possible that I ran out of disc space when installing and didn't get an error message about it?  How much space do I need on my C drive for this installation?  

When I am at the installation menu, I have FTP access to my xbox.  Are there any files that I can safely delete to see if this will help my installation?  I don't want to completely screw up my xbox though.  


If you have any further ideas, please let me know.

an error 13 on a minimum install is very strange since it formats the C drive and then installs only the necesarry files. Where did you get the save?
I would completely restore the C drive using the msdash files found on a slayers 2.6 disc, also clean up the E drive (only leave udata and tdata and then use a complete new save downloaded from xbins and pick the basic install

Thanks for the advice, I'll try all of that today and see what happens.

I got the save game from xbins, so it's got to be ok, right?

I'll grab a copy of slayer's 2.6 disc and see what I have to do to fully restore C drive.  I'll also wipe the E drive (apart from the udata and tdata files).

I'm using the Action Replay memory card to transfer the save game to my hard drive, could this be a problem?

well action replays do tend to corrupt saves sometimes but once it loads it ought to be ok further on. Was your xbox modded before?

Edit also since you have ftp acces it might also be better to extract the udata.zip (only that) and transfer the save over manually (after deleting the old one first).

I just wanted to thank you for your advice and help.  Everything seems to be working now.  I can now boot my xbox to the UnleashX frontend  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

The problem seems to be caused by the Action Replay memory card.  I think it must have corrupted a file or two.  To solve the problem I extracted the save game files from UDATA.zip and then manually copied them to the xbox E: drive via FTP.  After doing this, I ran the installer again and everything was fine.

Thanks again for all the help.  I hope this helps other people that might have this problem.

I had EXACTLY the same problem right down to a T.

Your solution of ftping in non corrupted savegame was exactly what fixed my situation.

Just a question, I saw mention of NOT unplugging the xbox. I was scared to leave it till morning.

What exactly happens with this situation when you unplug your xbox?


Oh and another thumbs down for action replay memory cards.

if your xbox is working fine unplugging will cause nothing. Just don't unplug it if your xbox boots to an error code
