How to change the Bios on your softmodded Xbox.

At the ‘usual places’, go to the following directory and download the file named metoo-m8plus-v1.4.1.zip
/XBOX/exploits/Bios Patchers and Loaders/pblmetoo

When you extract the folder, you will have a few files and folders in the main directory. The main things you need to worry about are the evtool folder, and the boot.cfg, default.xbe, and the Metoo-M8plus_16-06.bin files.

First, start off by opening the boot.cfg file with Notepad. The Fourth line down should say:
Romfile Metoo-M8plus_16-06.bin
Change this if you’re going to be working on the other bios file. View the readme file for information about the different bios’s. Close this document.

Open the evtool folder, and double click on the evtool.exe file. At the bottom of the screen, click on the open button. Find the Metoo-M8plus_16-06.bin file on your computer. This is where you edit your bios to your liking. I will list off a few options you may want to change. If you don’t know what an option is, don’t change it!

Toggles:
Don’t bother trying to change any of this. Since the bios gets loaded after the splash screen, it won’t really do anything.

Power LED color:
You can change the color of the LED when the Xbox is powered up. You can even have it cycle through all the colors, one after the other.

Boot Partitions and Executables:
THIS IS MAJOR HERE!!! NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. Do not skip this part. You must tell your bios what dashboard to load when you power on the Xbox. Yes, this is where you can switch to Avalaunch, MXM, Nexgen, or any of the other dashboards as your default. Make sure you fill in all three fields. This is the order in which the dashboards will load. If the bios can not find the first selection, it will try to load the second, then the third. I suggest you have at least 2 dashboards just incase. As far as the lTools package, your Evox dashboard should be located on: e:\dashboard\default.xbe

IGR method:
This is where you choose how far back you want the IGR to go. The “More Compatable” option will reboot your Xbox from scratch, kind of like pressing the reset button on your PC, it shuts everything down. The “Quick” option will reboot you back to your default dashboard.

Fan Speed:
This will adjust how fast the fan on the Xbox spins. The lowest it can go is 20% (I think). Faster fan = better cooling, but also more noise. I leave mine at 20%.

LBA48 Support and Default Partition Table Options:
This will allow you to specify what you want the Xbox to do with any hard drive space over 137 gigs. Partition 6 is your F drive. Partition 7 is the G drive. You can specify if you want to have one, big F drive or if you want to have a 137 gig F drive and the rest of the space on the G drive.

File Size:
Don’t change. Should be 256k and that’s it.

Saving changes and uploading the bios:

In Evtool, click on the Save As button and overwrite your old Metoo-M8plus_16-06.bin
File.

Open your FTP program and log into the Xbox. Go into the E drive and open your Bios_led folder. Upload your bios.cfg, Metoo-M8plus_16-06.bin, and default.xbe files into this folder, replacing any that are currently there. Now, before you restart the Xbox, you’re going to need to run the default.xbe file to upload the new bios. You can do this through XBMC, or DVD2XBOX.

Running the default.xbe file from DVD2XBOX:

Open DVD2XBOX and press the Red button "B" to browse hard drive. You will need to switch the path to the E drive and then switch to the BIOS_LED folder. You should see a default.xbe file in there. Select that file, press the Right Trigger button to bring up the menu and select Launch XBE from the menu. This will launch the XBE file and replace the BIOS.

Did my tutorial help you out? If so, please send a PayPal donation to BlueBlade. It doesn't have to be much. Every little bit helps

Any dashboard will work and why would you use DVD2XBOX to launch programs?

I have a softmodded xbox, bought it pre-modded.

If I currently don't have IGR, can I follow your instructions to enable it?  Anything to watch out for before I go ahead, like what to backup, tips, etc.  ph34r.gif

This worked fine for me until I was supposed to run default.xbe. When I did this a blank screen appeared and nothing else happened. Any ideas why this is happening?

How did you end up with bios.cfg when you started with boot.cfg?

Is there a way to simply disable the IGR in the bios?  I bought my xbox already modded with the dumbest IGR combo ever (both triggers and pushing down on both thumbsticks).  I have spent many, many hours of my life researching how to disable this.  I have it narrowed down to the bios (I use unleashX), but cannot seem to get much further than that.  I don't want IGR at all, ever.  heh.

I wanted to clarify that I know that UnleashX is the dashboard, not the bios.  I'm not a complete noob.  tongue.gif  I was merely trying to point out that the dashboard doesn't have an IGR component.
