M8+16 Prob, Reboots On Eject, Clock Resets
« on: December 07, 2004, 06:32:00 PM »

I have 1.6 xbox with a X2.6; flashed flashbios 3.0.3 in blanks 1&2 and M8+16 flashed in blanks 3 & 4.

I am having two problems.

1.  if you have a game loaded and hit the eject button to change games the system powers off, back on, and then ejects.  No harm it is just annoying.

2.  the system does not maintain the clock setting.  I have to reset the date and time after almost every boot.

Ideas?

Thanks

To clarify:

The system does not maintain the clock when I eject a game and the system reboots as described in #1.  If I power the system off with the power botton it keeps the time and date fine.

Works fine for me.  I have it flashed on blanks 1&2 with M8+16 on banks 3&4.  No probs other than the reboot on eject.  I have tried EVTool to fix the eject problem but I can not find a way to do it.

i think u will find that u have a 1.6b xbox m8, check the ram on motherboard u will find its hynix, flashbios 303 dosent work on a 1.6 xbox only a 1.6b, as for your problem im having the same thing here, starting to wonder if i might have a faulty chip as its not a common problem and if i try to flash a 512k bios like just cromwell it flashes to both banks, andway the way i found to get past my problems was to make a full 1mb bios of m8plusv16, then flash that to the chip and it stops the clock resetting, though i still find the xbox to be buggy, slow loading times and dvd player wont play movies good, keeps freezing or stopping and starting, remember if u make a full 1mb bios u wont have flashbios on your chip nomore, but u can still reflash through a programmer or evox has flash option (standard evox not slayers) or theres other flash progs about u can run straight from evox...

let me know how u get on, and if u have dvd player installed does yours stop and start on dvdr

try flashing chip with 512 of flashbios and 512 of m8_16 ... i had problems with my 1.6 on m8plus. m8plus is designed more for 1.6b boxes

after you get that up and running.. look for a program called flashX. good program to use to reflash from menu

I reflashed with 512k flashbios 3.0.3 on bank 1 and 512k M8_16 on bank 2 last night and it does the same thing as M8plus_16.

No idea... Use an eject fix BIOS (Like m8plus_16  metoo edition wink.gif (Which also has live blocking wink.gif)) so it doesn't happen? :-D

Also, why are you using a 512K BIOS and wasting your chips space? The BIOS is only actually 256K, so when you make it 512K it's just repeating the same data 2x....

I just used this on a 1.6 with the 2.6 chip. I worked great and fixed the eject-reboot. I put Flashbios 3.0.1 on bank 1 and the metoo bios on bank 2.

I got it fixed.  Thanks guys.

PS. I made each BIOS 512k to fill up the entire of blank 1 and blank 2.
