Help! No Exploit Work!
« on: December 16, 2005, 04:44:00 AM »

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleeping.gif) Hi all,

I know I am probably going to be told what I say now has already been discussed but I have not found anything as of yet, and I'm very frustrated now.

I have tried a number of different save game exploits to try and softmod my xbox but none have worked.  I have tried Splinter cell and Mech assult, and not the new releases which I read will not work.  I am using the hotswap trick with my PC, and using the linux boot cd to then log onto the xbox HDD and copy the exploits accross into the UDATA directory.

Copying the files is fine, actually everything goes find up until, I load the game (SC or MA).  As soon as the xbox boots/loads these games it then comes up with the "Your XBox Requires Service" message.  To sum it up short... As soon as I go to load any of these games, after I have copy the exploits onto the xbox HDD, I get the "Your XBox Requires Service" message and can not load the game until I delete the exploits of the HDD again.  SUCKS BIG TIME!  But all other games work because they don't have exploits they are trying to load.

Afterr taking the xbox apart and ohming out the mother board, plus following this sites directions, I have determined I have a xbox v1.4, with focus chip, and of the china production line.

I am a engineer so I do have half an idea what I am doing. Just none of the exploits work.

Plus the kernal version is 1.00.5713.01 and Dash/BIOS is version 1.00.5659.03.

Can anyone PLEASE help me with getting these exploits to work so I can softmod my xbox.

Appreciate any help,

Paul.

Make sure there are no other gamesaves in the directory before you upload the mod files, use the MS Dash to delete just in case.

Some of the older Mechassaults don't work (there's a sticky to tell whether you've got the correct version).

If using splinter cell make sure your using the correct picture standard NTSC/PAL version of the exploit.

Yes I have made sure that I have done all those 3 points.  Any Idea's what else could be going wrong?  I have made sure I am using PAL, and made SC is PAL.  Can't rememberif I have but maybe I should try the NTSC exploit just for a laugh.  Maybe my SC still isn't old enough for exploit.  How can I tell by looking at the cover? It is just plain old SC with the MS Live feature built in.

Thanks anyways,

Paul. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

couple of things to try

1) make sure SC has 2 saves

2) dash needs to be 5960 I believe in some installers. (update by putting a LIVE enable game)

3) make sure no other SC Downloaded content or profile is on xbox.

check link in my sig.

Hi all,

I still have had no success in using exploits.  Perhaps I should forget about the exploits and just try and hack with other software since I already have opened up the xbox, and also perform the hotswap trick.  I think I read to use UXE, any body have any sugestions?

Also I have created another HDD with an xbox backup of C: and E: from a friends xbox which is version 1.0 to 1.1 I think.  I just don't know how to successfuly lock the hard disk.  Maybe I need a specific brand of HD.  I use the the tools for locking and unlocking, but don't work properly because I don't know the correct pasword I guess.  And every time I try a eeprom.bin I get an error message which then tells me what I thinks it should be, but this is always the same no matter what eeprom.bin I use.  I also tried something else that was suggested.  "hdlock -a".  I think this is a typo since the exe file is called lockhd.  I basically have another HDD with a already hacked xbox backup installed, just cant lock it successfully.

Do I need to solder the points to open the TSOP chip?

Would still greatly appreciate people's help on hacking my xbox.

Cheers,

Paul.

According to this : Which versions of SC/007/MA are exploitable all versions of Splinter Cell are exploitable.

Just to be absolutely sure can you delete everything related to splinter cell using the MSDash MEMORY tab (the option for the gamesaves)

Ensure that you copy both gamesaves to the HDD (one goes to E:\UDATA\21585554, the other to E:\UDATA\5553000c)

Have a look in E:\TDATA, if you see a 21585554 or 5553000c directory, then delete them

Hi Neilor,

I have done what you have suggested.  I will check again on the game versions with the link you have provided.  Yes I can delete from the memory option within the xbox dashboard.  Although there was one time where after a reboot the deleted game saves came back for some reason.  But I have not seen this reoccure.  As for the UDATA and TDATA dir's, they are completely empty except for one audio CD copied in the TDATA, and the game exploit in the UDATA. That's it.  Find this very strange that I seem to have a problem that no one else experiences.

the only difference I can see to what you provided is the E:\UDATA\21585554 dir.  Mine isn't 21585554.  It starts with 8D or something but ends in 5554.  Could this have something to do with it?

Thanks for the help,

Paul.

The version I'm looking at is Krayzie's nDure... maybe it's different on your one.

Hi Neilor,

OK.  Can I ask if this version/flavour of exploit worked for you?  I think I will now try what you have.

Thanks,

Paul.

Ok, among all the exploits I have already tried I now tried these two last night;

Krayzie_SC-PAL_Ndure_Installer_v1.0
and
Krayzie_SC-PAL_UXE_Installer_Dutch-English_v2.8

None of these worked either!!!

I also deleted everything on the E: drive except the directories CACHE, TDATA, UDATA, but deleted everything in these directories.

One thing I noticed after trying the v2.8 exploit, was the two saves that are put into the UDATA directory, that after trying the exploit with splinter cell, which resulted once again in a message to have the xbox serviced, that these directories have now been created in the TDATA also.  However I can't remember what, if any thing, was in them.  But is this perhaps a sign of what might be going wrong???

Thanks,

Paul.

strange... you do extract both saves and put the folders with the numbers in Udata right?
Well let's break this down by factors that could result in this error.
1: your copy may not be right....make sure you get it from a reliable source (xbins)
2: the program you use may have some corruption problems.... try to get a small evox gamesave exploit running and then ftp the installer to udata manually
3: the game is not copied to the hd or right location of the hd (seems unlikely)

those are about the only factors that cause this error...

The version I used was "Krayzie_SC-PAL_Ndure_Installer_v1.0.rar", I tried it again last night and it worked fine

Did it have the same UDATA directories I quoted when you un-RAR'd yours???

If you still continue to have difficulties try and see if you can get an original version of 007 AUF in the second hand shelves of your local game store... this is the one I use mostly (because I sold SC to my brother - I know I'm cheap, but he'd do the same to me!)

007 is a little more straightforward as there's only one gamesave directory, the only knack with it is you have to start the game, exit, and then load the gamesave.

Hi Krayzie and Neilor,

Yes this is starting to sound very strange indeed.  This xbox is starting to be an invincible one!  Yes I do unzip/unrar every thing in their correct locations.  I do copy the number dirs to the UDATA dir on the xbox.  The structure should be correct.  I get all my xbox toolz/exploits from xbins.  I really don't understand why this is not working.  Last night I tried rebuilding the original xbox HDD with a backup of another friends xbox (v1 or v1.1) from a year ago that is already hacked.  But when you boot the xbox has error 16 (no suprise there).

Yes Neilor I had the same dir structure has you have previously stated.  Krayzie, I get all my stuff from xbins so I don't think there is any corruption probs.  Also what exactly do you mean by a small evox exploit?  I have tried most of the exploits from xbins (but not all... I think).  As soon as I put any exploit on the xbox HDD and try to load the appropriate game, all I get is the "Your xbox requires service.  Please look in your instruction manual for your nearest customer service centre".  This dam xbox knows what I am trying to do!  As mention in my first post, using the xbox scene web site, and ohm'ing out the mother board, I believe this the be an v1.4 xbox, with 05 in the serial number indicating its off the china product line.  Anything different they might be doing.

One other thing.  Last night when I cloned the xbox drive to make a backup, then viewed the clone drive under windows using PhatXplorer, I noticed something strange.  I have the game exploits on their still, but thats OK.  But then I saw dir structures which had the same dir names as the exploits, but were empty, and had "ỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹ" after the dir names.  I think that is the characters.  Does that help at all?

Thanks guys,

Paul.

Hi all,

I tried deleting a dir or two that had those funny "ỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹỹ" characters in the dir name and now the xbox hdd wont boot (won't security unlock).  I have used liveinfo xbox prog to look at the hex password to unlock it, but it doesn't work.  Although it does say its a calculated password unlike the eeprom section.  Anybody know any good tools for unlocking the xbox hdd by retrieving the password, not just wiping the password?  Or if I wipe the password, how do I get it locked so that the xbox will accept the drive?  Cheers,

Paul.

Hey,

I was having the exact same problem using the 007 gamesave exploit.

I had copied the exploit over by hotswapping the drive, but when I started the game it said the xbox required service... and every other game worked fine.  Here's what I did to fix it.  First, I deleted the gamesave and then I started the game (it worked, I guess something was added to check for these gamesaves).  Anyway, I played the game a little and killed some guys to let out my frustration.  Then I quit the game and saved.  I then turned off the xbox and hotswapped the hd.  The new saved game had the same directory in the UDATA folder, but the folder in the save game directory was different. (It was something like 981788934... unlike the 00000... the gamesave uses).  So, I removed everything from the savegame directory (not UDATA, but the folder in UDATA) even the directory in it (i left the folder that was in UDATA though).  Then I copied everything from the gamesave exploit into this directory and rehooked everything up and and the game started.  I guess the directory in UDATA needs to be created by the xbox or something, not really sure.

Anyway, let me know if this works for you or if you don't understand...  I've had a few beers and realize this might not be all that clear.

Also, since this is my first post, I'd like to thank everyone that has made these mods possible and those that help people on this board with all their problems.
