But according to some knowledgable fellows here, flashing a BFM bios on a chip is not good.
Where was that said? This is what pisses me off.. you didnt read what was said.
The reason that bios should not be used on anything with a 1.6, is because 1.0-1.5 and 1.6 use different hardware inits. The bootloader in this bios uses the 1.6 hardware inits when loaded from flash. When this bios, or any other BFM bios is loaded, it doesnt init the hardware, the bios that was initially loaded does this.
That is why i said this:

Evox released a 1.0-1.5 version and a seperate 1.6 version for a reason... Yes, they both boot on any xbox, but using it on the wrong version will init your hardware wrong, and probably destroy your xbox over time. |

From reading some articles on the site, I understand BFM stands for Boot from media, which means the bios can boot from CD. But how can it hurt an Xbox if flashed onto a mod chip or tsop?
Up to now, this is the ONLY released bios that be both flashed and used as a BFM. Flash any other BFM bios on your chip and watch the christmas lights.
Something along those same lines was posted already, too:
QUOTE (ckh2004)
It is basically a BFM bios, so if you use it as it is, instead of flashing it to a chip, it should work in all xbox versions. Unlike the earlier BFM bioses, this BFM bios happens to be usable as a real bios on a mod chip, albeit only in v1.6/1.6b. Using it in v1.0-1.5 will most likely cause long term damage to your xbox.
No one here uses a BFM bios to load from CD, they use it with PBL in conjunction with an exploit. Not saying it cant be done, just thats not what is normally done.
QUOTE (flylice)
Wouldn't the flash rom on the mod chip or tsop be considered as another another read only media?
no
I have to point again, one more time, that rmenhal released the bios/package and EXPLICITLY told you:
QUOTE (rmenhal)
Metoo-M8plus_16-06.bin is for v1.6/1.6b only when flashed on chip.
