Softmod Problem. Can't Boot Xbox!
« on: December 15, 2005, 06:51:00 AM »

Hey guys, just need a little advice here.

I got a second xbox free from some guy who messed it up. What he tells me is it was moded by someone. the case was never opened (some type of soft mod). His xbox is obviously moded since when I put his HDD in my xbox, I get the evox dash with a simpsons theme.

Here is the problem. Turns out he was playing in his settings and unlocked the HDD. Now he is getting an error screen when he boots the xbox.

My question is, how did he get his eeprom back to stock??? is there a way to turn the soft mod on or off? How do I tell what soft mod was used? (again, case was never opened, no solder or jumpers added on the board.

if I'm sold and need to, i can take the mod chip out of my other xbox and temp hook it up to this xbox to get it going. Can I softmod the xbox if it booted with a mod chip? if so, how?

Thanks!

Well that's easy. Hook up the harddrive that is unlocked to your computer and use a linux distro of some kind ( xboxhdm ) and you should be able to find the eeprom on the xbox harddisk (as long as it been backed up). You need to find the key to lock the xbox with. There are alot of tutorials on that (use search, yes the google search works too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif))

Good luck!
