xecuter if you release a new bios tomorrow for the 1.6's that will work with the 2.6 Lite and is editable in with xbtool, you will be my absolute hero!  I'm tired of this m8 bios.  I eagerly await news

Just look at the RAM-chips. Two big identical chips on the top-side, they have lots of legs on all four sides, says Hynix or Samsung or maybe something else on the top. One of them is right below the MS logo on the board.

I'm glad I have a 1.6 with samsung memory biggrin.gif. Nice work on the bios Yoshihiro but it looks like you have to fix some bugs smile.gif. Wish I could test for you but have no mod chip yet.

Just to add my findings:

I have a 1.6 dated 9.21.2004
Phillips dvd drive
seagate hd (skinny white one)
yellow dvd ribbon **
**samsung memory chips**

modded w/ a cheapmod/m8 (m8.67 ).
threw a seagate 200gb hd in, formatted for f+g, threw some apps on there, all normal

noticed when copying games either via qwix OR xbox>xbox, transfer would die after about 1gb of data had gone.

popped 200gb drive in another xbox, was able to xfer some games onto it.

popped 200gb back in 1.6(b?) fired up a game, let it run for about 10 mins, then freeze.

now i reflashed bios to beta4, reformatted hd (this time it puts extra space on /f/)
things seem to be working, i'll post again if that isn't true.

but: so far as i can tell, the samsung/hynix theory is thrown out the window, i had samsung mem chips and got the same symptoms as those who had hynix.

I have 3 1.6B xboxes.  They all have hynix ram and freeze up randomly.  I was using M8_16 and now I have flashed the Super Aladdin Live chips with M8_16_BETA4 and am leaving the xbox on waiting for a crash.  It hasn't happened yet after about 20mins of idling on Avalaunch.

fyi:

beta4 is working fine with no freezing after xferring games for 1 hour.

it does have lba48 support...using /f/ only (.06 instead of .67)

so is the beta4 also for 1.6 xboxes that aren't freezing?  I got a premod 1.6 in october and haven't had any problems. I'm wondering though if the code for the original m8_16 isn't written correctly, is this going to screw something up? So far everything's been running just fine, but if there's risk of damage I just want to know what it is and what I should do to avoid it
