Got Programmer For X2.6lite, Help!
« on: October 13, 2004, 08:23:00 PM »

I know it means some connection is bad.   I have tried ECC, and ECP parallel modes.  I have the programmer plugged directly into the port, so there is no cable to be too long.  I have the USB plugged in for power and am getting lights on the programmer.  This is the second machine I have tried this on with the same result.  There are no switches of any kind on the programmer or modchip, no jumpers to remove.  Using X2liteflasher to flash the bios gets me a SYNC=7 error which means a bad connection.  I have tried holding the chip in place, pressing down on it, etc., nothing.

Question : If the last time the Xbox was powered off before I removed the chip, and the "flash protect" was ON at the time, will that affect the chip even once the switch is removed from the circuit?  Do I need to leave the rest of the chip plugged into the Xbox?  There are no ground wires or anything, simply the 12-pin programmer connection and the USB power.  What is going on!

EDIT : I re-assembled the xbox, powered it up, and set the flash protect switch (mounted on the front of the xbox) to OFF and removed the chip again and tried to flash it, thinking it would help.  No luck.

I got it!

My modchip was preinstalled by modchipman.com, and the front panel switches (mod on/off, flash protect, and bank 1/2), and I thought, maybe I have to have that front panel switch connected to the chip while flashing, and sure enough, that was it.  I'm a total noob, but I should be up and running soon. :D
