You can access the hard drive without unlocking it....Locked or not you can ftp to it with either a pc or another xbox....You need to learn how to ftp to your xbox from a pc using flashfxp....or a program/ or dash like avalaunch which supports file transfering from an xbox ...
The evoxdashboards can be configured also to unlock and lock hard drives, some latest chips like X3 will allow that aswell...
Otherwise find configmagic final that will do a few things aswell....if you want to unlock for some other reason besides transfering files....   :)

But if you mean you have a hard drive from another xbox and its locked with the original mobo and you wanna put it in your xbox...bad luck I think still??  it will need to be unlocked first and there probably is an app by now that will do that but don't know name...

Well i know how to FTP. I got a modded xbox with xenium chip and 200 gb HD.
What i cant do is put my friends retail HD in my modded xbox and get access to it or FTP to it.
I need to fix his C/ folder.
Cause it wont launch from his XBOX that he was trying to softmodd and messed up the retail dash board on it. Then it was unplugged and now is doing the clock loop instead of loading the SC game.
So thats why i was wondering if there was a certain bios that would unlock his HD in my modded xbox so i could fix his woes!

OK see the drama!! As far as I know unless there has been a drastic change lately you need to unlock the hard drive in the xbox it's from, but I think i saw something about a hdd password program will gain the password from a locked hard drive...That would be needed to be done first then plug into your box and boot a boot disc or what eva... I'll see if I can find that program unless someone knows it off hand, Ive been outa the loop for a bit....
Dunno still those apps appear to be old ones and not really what your after....You need the eeprom and hdd serial number keys etc.... from the original xbox hdd and mobo configuration to work out the key to unlock the hard drive...I think theres a linux and a mac program that will do that from the looks, surely by now there should be an app that can extract the key required from pc or yeh from bios or new generation chip......

No what I'm saying is your probably stuffed unless you know the key used to lock that hard drive...
But there is a linux program, and a mac program which may help you obtain the key from the hard drive from a pc...then you could try to unlock it in a pc with unlockx etc one of those types of pc apps...
As far as I know there hasn't been a program to unlock a locked hard drive without the key used to lock it...
Way too many combinations possible.....
You need the eeprom and hdd serial combo to create a key to lock the drive each drive is locked to a specific mobo with its own specifc key.... See the problem?

You could chip the xbox with the stuffed hdd, put a temp hdd in there get it going back up the eeprom etc with configmagic, get the info required and use the locked hard drives serial together with the obtained eeprom info etc.. and find a program to generate the correct key then unlock it in unlockx on a pc... But really would be easier just to get another hdd.....
