Soft Mod Prob
« on: March 30, 2005, 07:42:00 AM »

Wondering if anyone can help me, was hoping to mod using splintercell and a USB stick. Purchased both Splintercell and the link that connects xbox to the USB stick, but the xbox won't detect the stick. Do I have to prep the stick in anyway, or are there tests to see if the link it'self is working.

Thanks for any help. <

Sorry, it won't detect the stick at all, my xbox only notices the HDD, so there's no option to format it. <

What brand of stick is it? I bought some generic stick and it allowed me to reformat it right away. <

It's a Buffalo Clipdrive, it may just be my shitty xbox, bought it 2nd hand from Game, and the DVD drive was fucked, still chasing them to give me a replacement. Thanks for the help guys, appreciate it :) <

I got a replacement Xbox from MS, and it still won't detect the stick. Are some brands of stick not compatable with Xbox or something? <

I've heard that some brands are not compatible.... yours maybe one that isn't... <

When you first put the stick into the xbox (via the adaptor), it should say "memory card not recognised, card has been erased (formatted)".  Then it's ready to go onto your PC to stick the exploits on (via AR).

There's a compatibility list here, but it's not comprehensive... my cheapo Leadtek stick worked fine. <

if nothing else works, just buy the action replay, or better yet, do a chip mod. <

Or better still still, buy a controller extension cable and a USB cable for a total of $10 and make an action replay.

BTW -- I've heard 1.6 Boxes don't like USB sticks. <

Correct, and some unofficial memory cards too.

I have a licensed unofficial card, best of both worlds.... except AR doesn't seem to like it. <
