Well, a few days ago I had a V1.6 XBOX in that wasn't working.
FlashBIOS 2.6.0-unauthorized booted fine. Customer loaded M8 and it worked the first time, but after that, he said he loaded his own customized dashboard, and... nothing but red flashing eject LED.
So, I poked about here and discovered, OH NO! The EEPROM was broken. His dashboard must have overwritten it!

Then I poked around some more and found a patch to Cromwell that would flash the EEPROM. Bummer, it was for a really old cromwell, definately not going to boot on a V1.6.

Ahhh, let's shoehorn that into the FlashBIOS. Maybe it will work!
Well, I managed to get it in there, but, lo and behold, the latest bios is GZIPped to squeeze a bit more data into the chip.

That meant I couldn't make it nice like the other Cromwell were you could load your own EPPROM. Oh well. As long as I can get it going, it'll do.
But where to get an EEPROM. Was it copyrighted? So I took to the 'net and found:
http://www.xenatera.com/bunnie/proj/anatak...mod.html#eepromHe'd already been contacted by MS personally and had been told what he could and couldn't post. No BIOS images there. But, according to him, posting the EEPROM is fine!
So, I threw that one in, compiled, and in the end, everything is kosher with that V1.6 XBOX. I doubt it'll ever work with Live, but who cares! At least I have another satisfied customer.
Moderators: If it turns out that putting the EEPROM in the image violates rules, let me know, I'll remove the EEPROM image from the file and post DIY instructions instead. I hope you don't mind...
BTW: You'll note the danger notices. They're there because this software isn't going to baby you. If you choose the flash option it will just do it without remorse, no backing up your old EEPROM, no testing, no nothing. This is meant to be used as a last resort, not for fun!
