Hi I originally posted this in homebrew software because thats what xbpartitioner is but did not get one reply so I thought I'd try you guys instead!

Hi all,

I'm wanting to use xbpartitioner to resize my partitions but have a few questions that need answering, I've done a search through the forums and lot's of googling but to no avail really.

I am running a v1.0 box, x2pro, x2 4981 with 120gig hard disk.

What do I need to do to add a g: part to the drive, I want to have around 60gig for f: and the rest for g:.

My main queries are do I need to change the bios, will I have to reformat my drive as there is data on f: at the min (I was just going to take of everything that I don't need, down to about 10-15gig of data on f:) and anything else that I will need to know really.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, cheers Bob

Yes, you'll need a BIOS which can read the partition table from the drive since you will be using a non-standard partition scheme. You'd probably want Evox M7, M8, X2 4977, or iND-BIOS. I believe Team X-ecuter has said that they will support the on-disk partition table in future releases.

You'll have to reformat F since you will be changing its size.

Thanks for the reply NghtShd - It confirms what I was thinkin about the formatting, it's just a little set back as I ain't got networking set up at home yet, waiting to get router so I can link my pc n box 2gether, so I will not be able to back up until then.

Out of interest does xbpartitoner let you know which sectors it writes too cos I was thinking of using fdisk to make a linux partition where the f stops.

thanks in advance bob.

It writes to sector 0. If you mean does it show the sectors where partitions start and end, yes it does.

Yeah I ment does it show where the partitons start and end. Thanks for the reply again, sounds like I'm going to have some fun working all this out when I can back up my f: part.
