Tha Basics

Ok, here is the deal. I'm an exploit virgin, I know how to handle a soldering iron, but have NO CLUE as to how to pull off an exploit without using the SIN package. I've searched through the forums and the tutorials, and could not find any direct answers to my questions. I've found PLENTY on the technical explanation of what is going on, but have yet to find a guide that tells me:

What is the BEST Softmod to use, which method will be EXACTLY like flashing the TSOP?

Does a virtual C drive have any real advantages, if so then how do I do it starting from step 1?

Can you use the latest X2 bios, or X3 bios, and which BIOS is prefered now a days anyhow?

How exactly do I install a softmod?!?! I'll assume that NKpatcher is the best thing out right now? If it is, I own a copy of 007 which I've been using for TSOP flashes. How can I use this to my advantage?

If ANYONE can answer these questions in a simplistic from a to b and then to c sort of approach, or provide links that answer my questions in EXACT, I'd be VERY VERY greatful.

1: there is NO exploit exactly like tsop. UXE is the best exploit nowadays.

2: the virtual C has a major advantage since your real C stays well hidden and is nor affected by any stupid people or other sources that might touch your C partition. Also you keep the ability to use the msdash without editing it and it will also let you run any official double discs/demo discs or any other discs that need the C fonts to work correctly.

3: you can use the latest BFM version of any bios although you better just use the nkpatcher with it's features. Most used BFM bios nowadays is the M8

4: you can use your 007 game just fine to install a softmod

For basic stuff there is a link in my sig.

Your guide is VERY nice for understanding the fundamentals of softmoding, but has no how-to.

So what I do basically is find out how to make a Virtual C drive first off.

Once I have that done, I can copy the contents of UXE on the new C partition, replace the nkpatcher it came with, with version 10, and I should be ready to go?

first you need to mod your xbox and set everthing up then you can create a shadow C which you can unmod again. Lots of info and tuts on the xbe exploits pinned section. The nkpatcher comes with a very clear readme file.
