I'm, working on it right now, but I have some other distractions today, so it may not be out until tomorrow or later.  I've got pretty much everything but the dash options in right now (everything I plan to have in for the first release), but there is still a lot of work to do on the interface. The initial beta release may not be too polished.

BTW, the first release will probably be for the M8 with LBA48 already patched in. This shouldn't be a problem since the LBA48 versions are fine with < 137GB drives and everyone who has tested them give them the thumbs up.

Edit:

This is not an XBtool update, btw, but a separate app.

M8 uses a custom boot loader, so I made a separate app. That wasn't absolutely necessary, but it was easier. You can support pretty much any kernel, though if you write an XBpatch patcher.  EVtool (which I've just released) uses a modified XBpatch patch engine, in fact.

NghtShd, I just wanted to personally thank you and all of the others that made this tool possible!  I can't wait for my chip to arrive (Wednesday) so i can get rid of this damn softmod on my 1.6.  Once again thanks to everybody that made this a reality, and keep up the good work!

just a question tho, what exactly is the difference between the two IGR options?

The quick reset will take you straight back to the dash--no logo screen and no DVD booting. The problem is, some games hang with this option. Soul Caliber 2, for example, will lock if you do the quick IGR while playing (you can go back to the menu before executing IGR as a work around). If you generally run everything off the hard drive and you don't have to worry about a DVD in the drive booting when you reset the more compatible option may be your best bet. It's not that much slower.

The more compatible reset takes you to the logo screen and then boots either the dash or (I think) a DVD if a bootable one is in the drive.

Anyone know the difference between M8_16_LBA48_IGR_C-06.bin and M8_16_LBA48_IGR_Q-06.bin?

I have a 1.6 with a Xenium Ice and 200 gig drive.  I'm running the stock M8 at the moment and have access to only 137g.  I should use one of the above to get access to the 200?

I'll be using hd games, so compatible IGR.  And I'll have to reformat the drive -- it was originally formatted through the Xenium bios.  The xenium bios allows you to control color -- do you think that will override the bios options?

I'm a newb, so lemme get this right too:
C is system
D is DVD
E is first 6-8 gig (or something close)
F is up to 137g
G is past 137g (in my case 138-200)

So after I load that bios enable F/G support in my dash, and then format?


Any word when the X2 bios for 1.6 is coming?

just load up the bioses using NghtShd's tool EVtool (clicky) you can change colours (yes im australian) etc from there

well the x3 with 1.6 support should be done within a week, so i'd assume the x2 will be just after, but keep in mind their x3 is top priority right now so it could be another month before you see them working on anything else for x2

excelent job on evtool!

is there a way to remove IGR from the bios? I know the original M8 has no IGR, but i want to edit the booting priority

if you can't remove IGR, wich one is better (in your opinion, that's it)? Quick or More Compatible

any plans on supporting the original M8 release?

Yeah, I will probably support the original M8 in a future release and allow you to turn IGR on and off.

This is fixed in the 1.0 release. (I based that patch on the M7 patch from XBtool, which has apparently broken been broken ever since M7 support was added, though no one ever reported it.)

If you EVtool the BIOS so that you have partitions 6 and 7, you can get away with only formatting G: drive, without having to format F:.
