Ltools Ma 1.7.5 Game Save Troubles
« on: December 07, 2004, 11:14:00 PM »

I want to be able to play on Live so I decided it would be best to use the backup I made of my stock hard drive to restore my drive but have the
MA gamesave FTP'ed onto the drive before I restore it so I can just load that gamesave and have my softmodded xbox back.

My problem is, when I came home from work after I had FTP'ed the gamesave over to the drive the night before, I planned to test this out to see what would happen. I turned on my xbox, it booted to Evox like it always does, and then I went to Ltools and it looked completely different....for some reason it chose that exact moment to change it's skin. I still don't know why it did it, but the big problem is that now Boxplorer doesn't work and when I tried to do the restore the C drive option in Ltools it told me that it couldn't find my backup. Now I know for a fact that I made the backup. I got on the FTP again to see if it was there and sure enough my backup folder was still there. Nothing had been changed by me (I'm the only user of the box) but the skin had changed and Boxplorer and the restore C-drive option did not and do not work.

SO I asked around and I was told that I needed to get the 1.7.5 MA Ltools game save instead of 1.8. So I did that and replaced the 1.8 gamesave with the 1.7.5 game save.

Now I load up MA and load the game save and it pops up Ltools....it says loading MXM but it's got all the same menu options as Ltools...And now Boxplorer is completely gone, and the UDE Uninstall and the C-restore options do not work at all....they both give the same error...Error Script...Line 1....yadda yadda...

Evox still works and I can still FTP in and out.  I don't understand why things have suddenly stopped working and why I made a backup of my stock drive if the programs either can't find it or have errors when I try and restore the drive.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Did you actually make a back up of your C drive as in copy all the folders on C onto your computer.

If so you can FTP in an just copy your C files over.

Well no I didn't copy the actual files themselves, I just did the backup as was recommended in the Idots tutorial for the UDE exploit.

I think all that does it copy your eeprom and hard drive key. It doesn't actually back any of your files up.

You could restore to factory from slayers. If its a newer box I wouldn't restore to the 4920 dash or you will get error 13.

Ok so what good does a backed up eeprom and a HD key do me?

If I can't restore from it.

I have 2 backup folders. One is just backup and it has eeprom.bin I think and hddpassword and that kinda thing you're talking about in it.

The other folder is backup_linux, and it has some rather weird named files in it, one of which is 100 megs or so. I believe it's a tgz file?

I believe that I do have the backup that I need to restore my drive, I just can't get to it for some reason.

Any thoughts as to why this is acting this way?

Don't know someone with more experience with this will have to help you. I didn't really look around just did what I needed to do and was done. You should always back things up yourself and not leave them on the xbox. This should have been the first thing you did.

It was the first thing I did, that's why I'm agitated because when I need it it's not working.
