I had a similar problem using the X2 bios - does the game just hang at the "Loading Crimson Skies" screen?

Ok, so in the past two weeks I"ve switched from Mordens to the UDE using Idot's installer package (which worked brilliantly once I smoothed out the kinks in my xbox). Switched over to UnleashX. But this problem has occurred both under Mordens and the UDE, using 4979_67.bin and the hacked bios idots included.

For some reason Conflict: Desert Storm II won't load at all. I rented the game a couple of weeks ago and had been playing it and went to MXM to rip a copy. Ripped it, burned it, tried to play it off the hard drive, tried every permutation. Same result - it hangs at the loading screen leaving the dashboard.

Oddly enough, this also happens when using the original game if I used the hacked bios. And it still happens, even using a variant of said bios. Now today it also happened with Unreal: Championship. Same problem, I've only seen with these two games.

I figure it's got to be the bios refusing to load these games properly. Is there another, more stable bios I could load to play these? It's possible to load a custom bios from your dashboard to launch a specific game, right?

And has anyone else had this problem, or is there something seriously weird with my Xbox? Thanks in advance.

On a side note, tomorrow I'll try the M7 bios and see if it will paly these other games. I also love my IGR though, and would hate to lose it or have to give up UnleashX

Yup, it just hangs at the loading screen.  For now I am back to using M7 with evolutionX.  IGR works fine now, just a little less cool without unleashX.

UnleashX, 4983.67 tsop, and Crimson Skies = no problem.  This Tread is misleading
as to suggest that the problems you are having are due to this combination.

What method did you use to flash the bios? I had an xbox over the weekend that had these symptoms until I flashed the bios with raincoat, I tried it with evox with 4977, 4979.06 and 4983.06. All evox flashes had the same glitch, dash would load but apps and games would freeze at start screen, I didn't really resolve it until I flashed with raincoat. Give raincoat a try, maybe evox has some glitches in it's bios flashing s/w.

X2 4981.06 and 4983.06 works just fine for me with all games.  I have crimson skies, UX is my default dash and it works great.  

So you are telling me that Crimson Skies, will load from evox, with the X2 bios, but not UX.  If that is correct.  It could be region conflict.

Change video settings in UX settings>Video>disable auto-switching.  could be a PAL game and your TV if US doesn't support PAL, UX's auto-switching sometimes switches to PAL opon load on very rare occations.

If thats not the case. dl new x2 bios files and re-flash.

IM not sure, but I think crimson skies has some save file checking like gta3 did. causes the game  to not load or something. try looking into that.

When Crimson Skies first came out, I tried to play it on my X2 bios (with Evox). It didn't work. Plenty of people reported it at the time. I don't think anyone was using UnleashX back then, so this might be a red herring.

Continuing with the evox dash, but switching to M7, seemed to fix it. Obviously the joys of IGR were lost (evox dash IGR breaks pretty much everything I use, and M7 doesn't support it (at last  look))

Crimson Skies played, so I've not switched back. Accordingly, I don't know whether later versions of x2 have solved this issue. But rest assured, there was definately a problem for many people using an X2 bios with Crimson Skies.
