Using An Original M$ Bios On A Chip
« on: June 04, 2004, 02:34:00 AM »

laugh.gif Well After destroying both d0 points on my xbox and then rescuing them with some rerouting, I managed to get my Xenium in (and none of it would've happened had I realised that the chip was faulty laugh.gif) But whenever I try and boot to the original bios on my Xenium, it just doesn't boot and restarts and goes from the chip, so I'm guessing my original bios is unbootbale (unless I remove the chip, which I'm not too keen on doing laugh.gif)

Now I'm contemplating getting live soon and obviously I can't use my chip on that. unfortunately, I don't have a way to disable my chip, so I was wondering if I could put an original M$ bios on one of the banks on my chip and then boot from that and play on live. Would this be possible? Also, is it possible for me to get the bios from the tsop chip on my xbox? Like make a backup of it. If not, is it possible to find the bios in the usual places? (I'm not asking for it, I'm just asking if it is available laugh.gif)

TYIA for any light that can be shed on this smile.gif

To my knowledge you can boot an original bios from a modchip, however I think it will still get you banned from live.

Well Live just checks the MD5 hash sum of a bios so if your using an M$ one then I think it will work.  I'm pretty sure you won't get banned but wait for someone else to confirm me.

No.  You won't be banned.  If you are booting an original bios then it's A-OK to go on Live.

but i heard that they are now detecting whether you booted from the lpc or not, so even if you are booting from an original bios, you'd still get banned?
can anyone confirm this please? thanks

To my knowledge Live just checks the md5 hashsum of your bios (like I said before) so it doesn't know whether or not a modchip or your TSOP is in use.

smile.gif So is there any way I could get the bios off my TSOP chip? Like make a backup of it like the EEPROM or summat?
