Hello, frist off i would like to thank everyone at XS forums you guys rock!

Anyways i've soft modded about 10 xbox's now.. With idots XBOXHDM.. But my friend has a 1.6b..  Here's what i have so far..
UXE complete <--- Never used before
UDE complete <--- Never used before
UDE 1/2 with XBOXHDM <--- used every softmod
MechAssult_WIth_Evox <--- Never used before

I didn't want to take a chance that the xbox wouldn't work with xboxhdm so i figured a game save would be my best bet.. If it's not please tell me other wise..

If i use MechAssult_With_Evox then i would upload the font from UXE complete in to the fonts folder and it should work right?

UXE, or if he has a North American Xbox, UDE2 would work.

Mechassault_With_Evox is a gamesave hack and you need to boot the game every time. It would work like crap and have reset on eject problems.

If you use the gamesave exploit to install tha UXE it will work fine. A gamesave exploit is ALWAYS superior to a hotswap.

UDE2 will work with NTSC 1.6'es sure.

And the 1.6b is just a 1.6, same thing. All there was was a BIOS problem and its been fixed.

Which is the best one (gamesave i have mech).. Why is it better? I've modded about 15 xbox's though hotswap knock them out in 20 min's with apps.. Only thing i'm worried about is the hard drive locking up..

Any gmaesave hack works great.

Hotswapping though can damage the hard drive simply because well, your removing a running drive.

Use a gamesave with UXE Complete.  I just modded my friends NTSC CRYSTAL xbox (canada) with it in about 5 minutes, lolies.

I had some general questions about ltools 1.8rc1. There was originally the problem with ram with the 1.6b's (which was fixed) and also i had read something about rc1 being buggy and not working or something (could have just been somebody botching the install). I also wasn't sure if ltools 1.8 was using the m8plus bios which was supposed to be fixed for the 1.6b.

Basically to cut a long story short, if i install uxe with ltools 1.8 rc1 through mechassault (using pbl metoo and evoxm8)...will it work with a 1.6b as is? or do i need to change the bios in ltools to m8plus? or do something else?

I've installed older versions of ltools on older boxes and i'm familiar with softmods but I'm just not entirely sure where the compatibility issues (if there are any) are, and exactly what is contained in the newest package. I looked through a lot of the posts about ltools 1.8 but there seemed to be a lot of conflicting data. Also, does anyone know where i'm supposed to put the dashboards folder? does it just go in udata?
