Found it.
I think topics like that should be sticked so people stop asking this.
By the way, search is disabled.

the new bios has been encrypted because it contains some X3 code in it. XbTools shouldnt be able to support the bios changing, due to the encryption. Teamxecuter has talked to NghtShd and he is seeing if he can make the relevant patches - if he cant then teamxecuter will try to make something for it.

Everyone, please remember that teamX is hard at work developing for the X3, and the new X3 bios will include REAL TIME bios editing , in other words, you wont ever have to unpack a bios, or use XBTool. All of this is BUILT IN and is being done in REAL time. This is the main accomplishment of the X3 bios and is why development has been taking longer then expected. All the spare time is going into developing the X3 bios.

For now, if you want to modify the bios, just stick with 4981 or one of the older bioses, which Xbtool supports.

there are some parts of the bios that aren't encrypted such as boot animation or logo

it would be nice to have a new version of xbtool that can change that but i guess its ok if nightshd doesn't want to make another one

The only thig  I need is fan speed at 60% to prevent my HDD to over heat. I've also read some where that 4981 was a hack and not a true release.

xbtool replaces the dash loader function, and does the fan speed in that; so it wouldnt be able to support that 'hack' anyway.  You might want to look into a dash that supports setting the fan speed for you.

I know, I think was Unleash dashboard that let you change the fan speed, the problem is that it returns to normal when you start a game.

Not with XBtool.  The things it lets you modify are the features of the bios.  (You can turn the clock fix on/off,  on/off the XBL connection hack)  If you have to boot off a different partition than C:/ stick to 4981 or earlier.

That line has been there.. I'm sure when the release was made, no one bothered to change it.  You can read what xecuter has said about it above (in katananja's post)

Make a test with yours, here if I set the speed to maximum, it will stay that way until i stay in the Unleash dasboard, but when the game starts, the speed drops. I know because i did this test once. Changing this at the BIOS the speed will not drop.

Dude...

When you load an xbe with unleashx, it maintains the fan speed, i know for a fact. I was playing halo and my friend was like "why is your fan so damn loud" heh.

I've done the test again, the cooler speed's down when I load a game... Strange...
I don't use mod-chip (TSOP MOD).
