ok, i been away from the scene and all xbox Related things, i am a xecuter 2 fan... are they still the leading bios? i heard that you can now change the blob color. i seen a video preview of the new Xecuter chip where you can edit all that.. well will there, or is there a program to do that without the new chip? and whats in the newst Bios (features/Changes)

Only way to change the BIOS right now is what you can do in XBTool or HEX editing yourself. I have made some BIOS for people that wanted diffrent colors for the blob part.

basicly yes xecuter bioses are still tops, the only other team that currently has a bios for the retail boxes/games is evox and their bioses are just not up to par with xecuter ones
4981 and 4983 are both great xecuter bioses

Can i just be clear on one point- there are few, if any differences between 4983 and 4981 with the obvious exception of the x2config app - and a certain level of encryption!
I tried 4983, went back to 4981 (my customised version). Am I missing any key features by doing this, other than the x2config app?

nope, that's the only difference

4981 is the way to go unless you don't want to customize your colors and boot-order.  Once XBtool supports 4983, it will be the way to go, but they're pretty much the same anyways.

I think he means because it's encrypted, althouh I remember reading somewhere that nghtshd was working with the x2 people to get it working
