Changing Hdd Have Bios Question.
« on: April 29, 2004, 03:16:00 AM »

I am going to get a bigger hdd soon.  I think that it is a maxtor 16gig.  I am planning to leave it unlocked b/c i dont use XBL.  BUt I know that in 4981.67, the 6 covers the first 137gigs and the 7 takes up the rest.  But what about M7.  I have been reading around and ive heard dood thinggs about the X2 and the M7 bioses.  How does M7 take care of the larger drives?  If this is unclear at all i can try to clarify it more.

thanks,

afaik, if its a new drive u can use .06.
.67 is just for big HDs who had been formatted before the release of 139+gig bioses.

16gb.. are you sure... or do you mean 160gb?
m7 handle 137+ hd as well and you can can chose to have one or two extra partitions.
X2 4981.06 and.67 support Xbox live protection!

you can use .06 or .67. all new drives must be formated and set with the right partition setup before use!

if you want to use the M7, you have to use xbtool to turn on the lba48 patch.

ok, I think im going to go with the X2 4981.67.  I went into xbtool, and i told the 6 (in the .67) to cover the first 137gigs and the 7 to take the rest.  I read a couple of posts saying that the .06 was not the right bios for a 160gig hdd, so just to be safe i went with 4981.67.  Thanks for all of your help.
