x2 4983 Coloring Tutorial?
« Reply #75 on: May 11, 2004, 01:39:00 PM »

Why is it that nobody responds on how to make the white bios?  Somebody should upload that bios to xbins.org.

I really dont understand all this talk of fog/flubber.  I think that the flubber color change along with the X-Logo change would only look cool on the white background.

Somebody please hook us up with the WHITE BACKGROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the white background from my knowledge can't be done with simple hex edits, you need the source of the bios to do it

Yeah I found it in 4983 (but can also track down on any other). It's just like the scene geometry. Goto 5e81f and you should see "e8" then 5 bytes after you should see "ec". Just switch those two and you've got red fog. Also 3 bytes away from ec you should see "f0", switch that with ec for blue fog. Also if you want no fog then change then change all three to "ec

So can you post the one for 4981

And i can make a program to patch bios files (Only if i could fully understand how this work), So far i have red with still green fog, mist at the start and can't change it

I'd like to add this for the record.

As of 4/25/04, 1:24, Team Gueux had completed the white background on an older BIOS.

As of 5/17/04, 3:32, X2 4980 BIOS is in the works and almost completed (as you can see, nearly done).

tongue.gif
i've been following this topic for a while now and understand pretty much how it works and have modded my own animation...
the thing i have trouble understanding is why one of the values must be 1.0 (255) (is it because the offset to change this hasn't been found?)

BTW: how do you take a video cap of the bios boot-up? i know how to do it in games with a certain app that i won't mention  wink.gif but i have no idea how to do it for the bios other than tv capture...

also, nice work guys on this whole flubber thing

the reason why one must be set to 1 is because when it was compiled the value of the green when set to 1.0 so if you dissassemble your kernel and go to that section you'll see that instead of loading the value it simply uses fld1 which loads 1.0 onto the FPU register stack and then you see it perform the FSTP instruction which moves it from the stack to that memory location. As for capturing the bootup you'll need to use a tv capture card with software to record it
