Wouldn't call it shady....

As frustrating as it is to see xecuter likely going closed on bios developments its not exactly a surprise. 4979 was I believe intended to be the final X2 bios and X3 was always going to be closely tied to the chip, remember when the X2 series first came out there wasnt the competitiion there is now making modchips and at the end of the day thats what the bios is made to sell. Hopefully there will be some more developments from the Evox camp.

Why make free blades that work just as well in anyones razor.

We still need an app for any chip that doesnt support the X3 OS. Dissmissing all the people that dont upgrade to X3 wont do any good for their PR. They will surely come up  with something to keep everyone happy to some degree and if they dont there are always other options.

assuming you actually have the sources you say you do in full and compilable (both the supposed x2 as well as the more believable ms bios) do you really think it will help the scene any by releasing the souce just because you were pissed you couldn't mod the bioses like you used to be able to?

maybe, but releasing sources for xecuter bioses isnt going to help anything
first off they will be old, second this would make the xectuter team to make future bioses work on their chips only.
