X2 4983 Encrypted?
« on: April 13, 2004, 06:34:00 AM »

Has anyone tried manually changing the new X2 to run off different dash's?

It looks to me like it's been encrypted, if this is the case and if any of the Xecutor folks are tuning in, are there any plans to provide a tool to modify the boot sequence, or is the plan to provide the instructions to the XBtool developer?

the new bios has been encrypted because it contains some X3 code in it. XbTools shouldnt be able to support the bios changing, due to the encryption. Teamxecuter has talked to NghtShd and he is seeing if he can make the relevant patches - if he cant then teamxecuter will try to make something for it.

Everyone, please remember that teamX is hard at work developing for the X3, and the new X3 bios will include REAL TIME bios editing , in other words, you wont ever have to unpack a bios, or use XBTool. All of this is BUILT IN and is being done in REAL time. This is the main accomplishment of the X3 bios and is why development has been taking longer then expected. All the spare time is going into developing the X3 bios.

For now, if you want to modify the bios, just stick with 4981 or one of the older bioses, which Xbtool supports.

Thanks,
Jive

That's just stupid.  grr.gif
I won't open my xbox again to change to a Xecuter 3 modchip. So I will never be able to use this features. Just remove them and remove the encryption too then everybody will be happy. muhaha.gif

Why don't you just go make your own?  Then we won't have to listen to you gripe about it and we'll all be happy...

real time bios editing ?
i think they choose to store the configuration somewhere else in the x3 modchip and not in the bios. and this will let people without x3 unable to use this feature.

Yes that's my point. We will not be able to use this features and so we want a bios without them and most of all a unencrypted bios.

Not sure what all the fuss is about, but 4981 does everything you really need a BIOS to do... It's probably the last BIOS I personally will ever use in my Xbox...
I'm not going out and wasting &60 or so on an Xecutor3 just to mess with my BIOS, when everything to do that is already around... I mean, thats a pretty big waste of money if you ask me... I TSOP all my Xbox' (since all 5 are 1.1's I  can have Multi-Bios) and that's all I never need, hope people can make an excuse to convince themselves $60 bucks is a good investment to mess with a BIOS wink.gif

On a side note, thank you team xecutor for your hard work and time. The 4981 is the BIOS I was needing and waiting for. Now that I have it, it's sad I will not be able to use your futher releases, but I really do not need all that stuff... Thanks again...
