Blob Hacks
« on: March 03, 2004, 05:31:00 PM »

ok, im sure that somebody has thought about this, but i dunno. so here goes, whatever happened to the Complex blob hack dealy that everybody busted a nut over? tHc has made one hell of a break through, but Complex promised the totally customizable one that they promised would be released soon, but i've neither heard nor seen anything come of it. anyways, that was just my question, an I'd like to hear everybody else's opinion and whatnot.

no, I think it was just to show what they could do.  Complex has some pretty good ideas for a bios, and the tools and knowledge to do it.

It wasn't a hoax. They just never bothered to release a BIOS with the changes.

There are probably more than a few projects that have not seen the light of day, for a variety of reasons, that you'll never even know about. The Complex animation hack is one of the few that was revealed - by a leaked video. It could be that very reason they grabbed their ball and went stalking home; seems lame, and it is, but that's the way it goes sometime.

At least it inspired others.

i could see why they'd give up when thier stuff got out, but wouldn't it make a little sense to help people out by telling them how they did it, or at least hint at as to how they did it so that it wouldn't have been a year before somebody else figured out how to do it, even if to a lesser degree?

the bios didnt even fully work. (ie, never booted a dash), and complex hasnt been one to release info, but products.

i guess that that makes sense, but even so, they could've made an exception and given folks an intimation as to how they even began to go about it
