What's Really Happening?
« on: February 28, 2004, 11:12:00 PM »

Hello,

Didn't see this posted anywhere, but If I missed..Apology. What is really the difference between flashing a 256,512, or 1024k bios. I currently am running an x2.3bPro with 4981.06 (512K BANK 1+2) AND M7 (512k Bank 3+4) I am wanting to install Linux and read that it only needs a 256k flash, but to use largest available ....why is this...They are almost all 256, but we are always told to flash at 512 or higher....why is this? What is really happening. Thanks!

depending on you chip, some chip need and could only use 256kb bios, and some like mine need a 512 kb bios to work, but can also be flash with a 1024 kb bios.
and those new chip can have up to 15 and a lot more different bios flashed onboard(multibios)
