Grand Slam Pack Question
« on: February 27, 2004, 01:38:00 AM »

Guys, I got some Grand Slam Pack Xbox's and wanted to flash their bios. Before flashing it, I saved the original BIOS using the raincoat method. As I wanted to be sure what version it is, I run XBtool, and it gave me an error, saying that something is wrong with the kernel... As I did not want to ruin the Xbox, I did not dare to flash it, being not sure the M7 bios will be good.

So the question is, can I reflash the TSOP of these Grand Slam Pack Xbox's with M7 bios ?

thanks and regards, Stephen

Well, seems the problem is in XBtool, as Bioschecker 4.0 can identify the BIOS as 5101 original. So I reflashed the Xbox TSOP with M7, and it works like a charm.

regards, Stephen

The problem is you didn't use the proper config file to load them, although other than the version number XBtool wouldn't have given you much more info since that isn't a supported BIOS (XBtool only needs to ID supprted kernels). BIOSchecker probably just hashes the packed file which, while it won't work on all modded or repacked rom files, doesn't require unpacking of the BIOS.
