Seriously Stuffed Bios!
« on: February 25, 2004, 06:56:00 AM »

Hi,

I had a X2.3 Pro chip installed by a company here in the UK, and all was working well, except that i couldn't get online through the MS dash.  I used X-Disk 1.01 to install EvoX etc, and was working well with the chip on.  When i booted with the chip off, it still said Executer2 BIOS was loaded, and went directly to the X-Disk dashboard,  so i presumed that the MS BIOS was not there, or corrupt.  I got hold of the XDK program and proceeded to do a recovery to a retail box, but at the end of copying the files to the HDD it can up with an error and stopped working.  I rebooted but now only get a flashing red light around the eject button, and has a blank screen.  I think this has wiped the MS BIOS completely, and now it won't work at all.  It won't even load the X-DISK CD.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

yah you probly didnt READ THE NFO!

Recovory disk WILL BLANK YOUR EEPROM, FORMAT YOUR HARD DRIVE, and FLASH YOUR BIOS!

THIS IS FOR DEBUG XBOXS!
YOU DO NOT HAVE A DEBUG XBOX!

Right now your xbox is a big paper weight

IT IS Repairable. I COULD Repair it. So it is possible to fix but you need to find the right person. If you have a modchip programmer for your chip or can get it programmed with the right stuff you CAN recover.

I will buy your paper weight for cheap if u dont want it but dunno how much shipping to canada would be

Good luck and i hoped you learned something from this

All you need to do mate is go to "the usual places", Grab your self a 1mb image od complex debug 1.03 or any debug bios that allows you to play unsigned code and is compatible with your xbox version.

Flash that onto your x2, put chip back on and it will boot,

You will have to look up flashing your TSOP with the X2 and get the MS Bios (also in "the usual places")

The debug bios WILL boot without a valid eeprom, shit it boots with a blank eeprom!

You may have to replace your HD, im not that clued up on wether the debug bios will read a locked retail HD, there is a good chance it will as it dosent need an eeprom which contains your HD pass.

Then get a backup of the c: and e: partitions of yours, OR ANY xboxs HD.

You will have to use unleashx or avalaunch to connect to your xbox with a debug bios as evox will not run

Once your connected put the c:\ and e:\ where there supposed to go, do whatever tinkering you need to do to make it as close as you can back to your machine.

If you havent got a backup of your eeprom, you can get them all the time in the buy/sell of these very foums, use Config Magic FINAL to re-apply your eeprom.

After you have flashed your tsop back to original re applyed your eeprom and fixed your HD, Flash your mod with whatever bios you were using, put it back on and there ya go, shout at the top of your voice,

                          IT LIVES!!!!

ok having a x2 pro u assuming have a programmer for your chip wich is a good start. secondly do you have an eeprom backup? if not thats not good! yargh...
well if you need one take the one from one of these packages:

http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=170203

you can edit the eeprom to your spec using these tools:

http://xbox-scene.co...php?page=eeprom

once your eeprom is setup to your preference you can either follow the tutorial on the link above or you can follow these steps below. i prefer if you use the steps below in order to test new features of xbtool thanx to nghtshd smile.gif

anywho

Get the newest xbtool

http://dwl.xbox-scen...l_1.0.19.b2.rar

NEXT

Get a copy of X2 4981 or Evox M7 Bios

copy the eeprom.bin into the Patch Data of xbtool
Load Xbtool and open the bios u wish to use
Check ON the Emebeed eeprom
Save the bios image

Program this image to a bank on your x2 mod chip

next..

boot up the bank you just flashed! it should boot!

Not finished yet!

Get a hold of Config Magic upload it to your xbox and put a copy of your modified eeprom.bin in the configmagic Data folder.
Load Config Magic
Press Start to bring up the menu
Load Eeprom from .BIN
then Update Xbox Eeprom

Now try booting another bios without an embedded eeprom. It should work

if config magic doesnt work there are other eeprom writing tools you may also try

good luck, post results plz smile.gif

thanks...thats very informative.

Problem is that my cable doesn't work when connected to the box.  Is there something i need to do to set it up on my puter??? or is it the wrong one??  The cable has a connector on it...one end fits on my serial connecter on my puter, but the other end is a smaller plug.  I have had to buy a connecter that changes this to a large one to fit on the xbox.
Is it possible to flash the chip using a CD???

Cheers

its not possible to flash with a cd or xbox unless it boots up. if you put the chip in a working xbox you can then flash it.

using your pc you need a db25 cable (lpt). and i think its X2BM you need to use to program your chip. i dont own a pro or i could be more descriptive.
