I'm only assuming it works, myself. Since my test show that the eeprom info was indeed read from the kernel I believe it will, but I haven't actually tried. Hopefully someone with a badd eeprom can let us know if it worked.

I figured some eeprom restore app would be best for that, once you got the box up and running, but it's possible to add the code to the BIOS.

wow...im not sure how all this works, but it would be so awesome if we could somehow play on our Live account with the modchip on and the game played off the harddrive.  that would be cool.

so this is my attempt at trying to figure this out.

we would need to use xbtool to load our eeprom into the M7 bios?

would we then need to unlock the harddrive and remove our good eeprom?

as soon as i get a good explanation on how to do all of this, I will be more than happy to test it out.

im paying $50 a year for live.

it would be nice to play hdd games online.  at least thats what it sounds like this is for.

so now i have edited my eeprom with a bunch of random #s $ letters.  i have embedded it with xbtool, and i will flash it when i come home around 1pm. (im on the west coast)  ill go online with it and find out!

the only thing i dont understtand is that if we use an invalid eeprom in the bios/kernel, how would we go online?  
usually when the eeprom is invalid u just get an error screen.

Apparently you haven't been following along. You can't go online with the modchip enabled.  I'll say it again. It might prevent your real eeprom from being banned if you use a fake eeprom. It won't let you in with a fake one.

so then wouldnt this just make the evoxM7 more like the 4981 in that it disables xboxlive to a degree?  

-my next question would be --then what is all the talk of being able to go online with this and not get your good eeprom banned?  

or r u suggesting that you boot up with the chip on and then turn the chip off before going online?

i would like to test something out to get online, but it seems as though there is nothing to test.  

if you cant go online with this, then what was all this talk about xbox live and not getting banned, etc....?

some what, 4981 fakes a network conenction error when you try connecting but does not aid when ms dash connects on start or doing updates

it is meant that if your mod is ON and your playing a game and you try connecting to xbox live or even accidently connect, or even any connection at all to M$. It is possible that it wont ban your xbox but merly ban a fake eeprom embedded in the bios. Meaning if this happens and you are a xbox live user, when you reboot your xbox and your mod is OFF, when you go to play on live your xbox will not be banned.

To answer the final question: No this will not let you play on xbox live with a modchip enabled.

NghtShd, I think I have a bad eeprom on my xbox ver 1.0.  If I boot from a linux bios everything is great (A linux bios does not use eeprom data).  If I boot from m7 it flashes green and orange.  I will try the eeprom option on m7 bios today and post my results.

from what I understand... if you try to connect to Live with a different BIOS, you *WILL NOT* be allowed on, and your EEPROM will also be banned. This patch will allow for your EEPROM to not be banned, however. It still won't allow you to connect to Live with a different BIOS.

hehe, I think that some people need to be told more than once anyway (or maybe 4 or  5 times).

Anyway, great work NghtShd, cant wait to see what else comes out of this awesome app.

damn NghtShd...I understand.  U didnt have to get all fussy bout it.  The discription of it is just not clear and thats why I was confused.  I was thinking that there was some way to play online from the harddrive.  If you would have said that this is similiar to 4981, i woulda gotten the picture.

see, I thought you were just being ignorant, hence the arguments of why you should be able to go on live, instead of the actual feasibility issue, or how it 'worked'.
