I don't see any reasons why it wouldn't work.

even if they are incompatible, the one on the first bank will still be bootable

Of course, if your using Ant's extension, there can't be any incompatibility issues. But IMO that's better reserved as a recovery mecahnism.

Worked great and everything is fine.  Now I have 4981.06 on bank 1 M7 on bank 2 and cromwell on bank 3&4 (512K).  Can I boot to bank one and start EvoX and switch to bank 3&4 and flash it, or would I need to use a bios CD booted from cromwell.

Now that you have this done just get hold of flashX ( not xflash) and use that m8.

It allows you to flash to individual banks .

you can use evox to flash them, just make sure the file is in the bios directory on your c drive and it is the proper size

Not both banks you cant because evox automatically makes a 1Mb bios.

So bank 3&4 (512K) is cromwell.  I boot evox out of bank 1 and switch the dips to bank 3 and flash it with 4981.  Power off. Do the samething again but flash bank four with 4981. Do you thik it will work
