Help, Can't Get A/v With Focus Chip/xcecuter L2.3b
« on: February 16, 2004, 07:14:00 PM »

We have an Xcecuter Lite v2.3b installed in an xbox with a focus chip.  When switched on the chip lights up, and the led with the switches goes green.  the drive opens, everything appears normal except we get an orange flash before the led's on the xbox go green, and there's no audio/video with rca cables.  It will take a cd-rw with bios, it runs for thirty seconds or so, then turns off.  after this it won't take an evox cd, and there still is no audio or video.  Any help would be appreciated.  our xbox has been down for like a month and i'm going crazy.

Thats how the xbox is supposed to behave with 2.3B lite. You shouldnt get any audio/video output because its shipped with a old cromwell bios installed. Thats because of the Focus chip you got.

And its supposed to spin for about 13 seconds while Bios file is installing. Then Xbox will turn its self off. (make sure the switch is in unprotected)

Make sure you swith to Bank 1 now with the switch, since you still have Cromwell at Bank 2.

Then you should be ready to intall the EvoX dashboard.

If you want todo it easy... try finding 'Slayer 2.5 installer' (Glorified EvoX installer).

(might aswell be the Cd-rw you are useing.... try a other brand)

If youd taken the time to do a bit of reading of the tuts before hand you would have known this. ;)

i am aware of all this, and that's the page i followed exactly to flash my bios.
i'm flashing Xcecuter 2.4979 repack, and i'm saying it seems to take the bios, turns off, the whole deal, then i switch to bank 1, still no a/v, but it won't take evox cdrw.  am i supposed to see video before flashing with evox, and how am i supposed to see what i'm doing without a/v if that's the case.

4979 doesn't support forums chips.  You need a newer BIOS.

must have been my d0 point, dunno how many tens of hours my roomate and I spent fiddling with the wiring wondering if that was what was wrong, today i was messing with the d0 point and it started working.  I somehow flashed it, but it wasn't working all this time.  in any case, thanks for the advice, it's running fine now
