Xbtool Logo Colors Defined?
« on: February 09, 2004, 01:25:00 PM »

xbtool has:
                 "xbox" text
                 X Inner Glow
                 X Inner Walls
                 X Lip Highlights
                 X Lip

xbtool color bios preset maker has:
                                                   xbox text
                                                   X
                                                   X Spotlight
                                                   Lip
                                                   Lip Spotlight

The obvious is "xbox" text = xbox text

But, what do the others equal? Hope this makes sense what I'm trying to ask.

The X you see is really nothing but a hole. There is a surface which has a black skin on it and then some othe color below that. This surface is cracked open in the shape of an X.

X Inner Walls:
This is the stuff below the upper crust of the black surface. Call it the nougat. If you fell into the X-shaped hole you'd have to climb up this nougat to get out.

X Inner Glow:
The color which appears to eminate from inside the X. Apparently something deep inside the hole is glowing. I don't have a candybar analogy for this--none of the candybars I've eaten glowed when I bit them.

X Lip:
The color of the lip of the X shaped hole. This is a cross section of the crust. If the inner walls are the nougat then this is the chocolate outer shell. Technically you'd expect it to be the same color as the top of the surface (which is the default), but we can pretend the surface just has a thin coat of black paint on it.

X Lip Highlights:
The inner glow appears to be lighting up the corners of the lip, but we can cheat and make it a different color if we like.

NghtShd,

Not sure if you noticed discussion in other thread in here, but have you ever considered including a 'preview' of how the Xbox logo woud like?  I know it would be alot of work to incoperate this feature, but if you did it will elimate the need for the preset color generator and I personally feel like it would really complete Xbtool.

Whatever you deciede, just want to thank you for you great tool, and your continuing development.

Respect bro.

I have never messed with the colors, as I don't want to play around with it and have to keep flashing my bios to get it looking the way I want.

I looked on xbtool when I first used it for a "preview" option and <of course> didn't find it. I sort of dropped it and left it at that.

I think that would be the best addition to xbtool in quite some time, and open up color modded bioses to another group of people out there (too lazy to try process of elimination...)  wink.gif

This topic is covered in this thread  It also has a few settings for custom colors.

AS for a preview window in XBTOOL.  What's wrong with XBTOOL Color Bios Preset maker?  I use that to preview my color choices.  The only thing I would like to see is a graphic file output option from XBTCBPM.  I like to have an image of what the preset I created looks like and it gets to be a pain having to do a screen grab and then dump it to paint or Photoshop and save it out.
