Error 16 is a dash issue, usually your clock. Take the chip out, put in the original drive. Do that and post what happens.

well i guess i installed stuff on the hard drive before, like utilities and stuff, but that shouldn't matter right?

Sounds like your 160gig drive is not locked thats what error 5 means and that why it would boot with that

as for error 16 did you mess around with the xboxdash.xbe file? edit it in anyway or modify it at all? if so thats your problem

the reason you got error 13 with X2 4980 is cuz it was looking for msxboxdash.xbe instead of xboxdash.xbe so that could have caused you problem there

if your chameleon is totally hosed you can do a hot swap if you know a friend that has one
this has been known to work

sure you cant boot any banks?

the problem with the chip can wait, I have to make sure my xbox is fine first, man...this is a nightmare!!! Thx for replying though, i need all the help i can get.

Put the chip back in. Put the original drive in. Ftp in and restore the dash, or whole C drive if you need to. Viola your done. Take the chip out and boot to your locked original hd with original dash.

I can't boot up with the mod chip, nothing comes up on the screen. The led flashes red and green, and the hard drive makes a weird noise and stops. What's wrong?

I changed the chip to bank 1 and it seems to be working. I tried to flash it with 4980 and it seem to go through fine, the system shut off on its own. but when turned it back on, it's like i never really flashed it, it still pops out the tray and ask for the bios CD. Nothing on the screen though

Means the d0 is probably grounded but the rest isnt getting correct contact. When the d0 is grounded you get FRAG. If it doesn't recognize the bios after d0 is grounded (lpc) it still frags. Im sure this is the case, try again.
