Download a program called FlashX. It was made by the Xecuter team.

Put it on your xbox like any other program and put the 256k bios in C:bios folder.

On running FlashX you pick the bios file from C:bios and then choose which part of the mod you want to flash it to.

No need to resize, the prog takes it into account automatically. Just pick bank 1 or bank 3. Picking bank 2 or bank 4 for a 256k bios is useless because the chip is only designed to launch from 1 or 3, the others are there for the x2pro.

Just follow the onscreen instructions. You can switch between 1 and 3 for booting using the switches provided (or a jumper for the old versions).

If you have the X-ecuter2 which has no switch bank, then the jumper on the chip may be set to look at banks 3 and 4. Use Flash X to flash the 4980 into all four banks and then it won't matter whether the bank selector jumper is on or not.

Is this not alittle dangerous as there's no back-up? I thought that this chip couldn't read 2 and 4 according to the first poster?

Also- are you sure it will be ok with an unadjusted 256k bios in the particular Mod? Can someone please confirm?

If your worried, go into flash X and flash 4980.06 in banks 1+2 and 4979.06 in banks 3+4. Flash X will allow you to do this all in one go, then power down.

I too had a question about this. I have the X2Lite and currently have the 4977 bios_256k file in my C:Bios folder on my xbox. I want to flash my chip via the evox menu and forgot if i just place the new 4980.67_256k file in my bios folder to replace the old one and flash away or do I have to make a 1mb file?

I have a X2.2 Pro and would like to flash with 4980.06 (I only have a 120 gig hdd so no need for 4980.67 right?).

But I do have Flash-X installed but how do I select multiple banks? The 4980.06 I have right now is a 256k but it would be nice to have 4980.06 and 4980.67 just in case if I get a bigger HDD, right?

If so, what are the settings for my chip (which switches to be on and off and how do I select multiple banks on Flash-X)?

If you have a 120gig HD, flash with 4980.06.
You don't need Flash X installed. If you flash an X2 pro in EvoX it will flash the 256k bank that you are currently using. Evo X won't replicate the bios unless you have your dips set to 512k or 1meg. If your Pro is set for 256k you don't need to alter your dips unless you want to flash a particular bank. The pro chip is capable of being flashed in single 256k's.

Well the last time I flashed my X2.2 PRO, I used 4977_Blue_Noani_1024k.bin, so I guess it's a 1meg bios, so what do I do now since it has a 1 meg bios but I want to use a 256k one?

Oh and how do I flash my chip thorugh EVOX? There is no option in EVOX to flash the chip.

Okay, I do have the 4980 256k bios that I just d/l'ed (I guess it's a virgin bios huh?) in the bios directory in C:.

But in EVOX, there is no option to flash the bios. If there is supposed to be one, how do I enable it.

I tried to go to:

System Management
================>Settings
===========================?

But there is no Flash Bios option in setttings.

I added the lines to evox.ini and it works.

As for flashing, so everything will be fine after I do the flash even though the 4980 bios that I just d/l'd is a 4980 "virgin" bios?

Also what do I do if I want to flash the second bank, third bank, etc.?

What do you mean 'virgin' bios. The virgin bios is normally refering to the cromwell bios. As long as you use the 4980.06 bios, everthing will be fine. Anyway, you may want to hang fire, there will probably be an updated 4980 bios released later on today anyway, well a fixed version at least for msdash users.

Yes, you can flash single 256k banks one at a time in EvoX if you want when your using an X2 pro.
