I had same problem....with more than one game. Box has been working great for 6 months then boom....so I installed 4979.06 and .67 and M7 and 4977 and I found it worked only on M7 for this game and XIII.......

I would think it must be something on the bios's....I don't like the 4979 bios, ever since I put it on some games will not play even games from 2 or 3 months ago....but M7 works on all of them......for now anyways.

I have the Evox M7 and Top Spin, XIII, and Counter Strike always lock up at the beginning or let s me play for a bit and then lock up ... i tried three diffrent 40 gb drives and the regular drive that came with it and was wondering if bios has anything to do with it.. i have a  apple x-3 and i flash it once with the m7 but cant reflash it. did anybody finally get the games to work?

Ya mine are working now on M7.....but will not work on the other bios's.........and to be perfectly honest I would rather have the X2 bios on it (which I do on the other banks) just found that right now anyways M7 is working flawlessly.

See and thats whats odd with me, i flash it with M7 but no go just those three games i have a hard time , im guessing my bios are unstable cause these apple chips are cool but not reflashable. like i said i flash earlier and it work fine but when i tired again it wont work i probably need another chip that will allow me to do a complete wipeout and start again. i dunno but i cant play neither those three games on any drive with out it locking up. but i got M7 without the eject fix any of yall have the same bios as me?

I am having the same problem (sort of) with 3 different games.  XIII, Topspin, and FIFA 2004 either go directly to the dashboard or in the case of Topspin it goes through a few of the first loading screens and intro movie and then boots me out right after the MS screen.  Here is what I have:
I bought a pre- modded x-box locally and it has this mod on it:  Exodus/Matrix no-solder mod chip (I believe version 1) with the 256k BIOS chip (*NOT* 1MB) with a 60GB 7200RPM Seagate Barracuda HDD...

I have about 12 games on the HDD that work fine (direct disk copy to hdd) and about 12 or so that I have burnt from newsgroups to DVD's.  All of the others I have burnt work fine aside from me being lazy and not reading up on the FAQ's on how and what program to use for recording the titles that have been ripped for CD-R burning.  Anyway... I know much of nothing about the bios's or any of that stuff.  From what I understand this thing has multiple bioses loaded on it or something, but my main goal here is to find out that given the mod chip I have can I be able to run games like XIII, Topspin and FIFA 2k4 or do I need a new mod chip?  If I just need a new bios or what...
