Just wanna add my 2c:

Flashed my modded 4979.06 bios last nite - flash went fine. Brief testing (watching a DVD, using dash, no games tested yet) works fine.

Modded it the the 4977_darker_blue colours, made in no ani, no trade mark, changed the boot order around.

Cheers for the great tool NightShd!

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. If I copy/paste presets into the 'presets' folder of xbtool, they don't show up in the program.

For example, I downloaded the three that bi786 posted above, extracted them into the 'Presets' folder in the XBTool directory and when I run XBtool, they aren't listed in the Presets dropdown menu. Am I missing something?

TIA

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Glad it seems to be working so far. If there are no problems with the new partitioning scheme options in b2 I'll do a final soon.

hmm,... got it figured out...kinda...

I d/led the presets directly to the 'Presets' folder and extracted them there. Then when I fired up XBTool, they were listed in the Presets dropdown menu. It must be something with the copy/paste... dunno...

QUOTE
I just got a 250 gig maxtor. I am not sure on the difference between 4979.06 and 4979.67. I want a F up to the 137 and the rest on G.

Then you want 4979.67.

Do the other drop-down menus work? What OS are you running?

Hey NghtShd... first off, I've gotta tip the ol' hat to ya for an excellent program! I'm sure that 99% of the community would have to agree with me on that too!

Anyways, I'm at work right now and I've run into that problem again (I thought I'd give it another whirl for Big Al's sake). I've even tried extracting the presets right into the Presets folder, but it still doesn't work. This computer at work is a Win98, I'm using XBtool_1.0.12.b2 and I've only got the X2.4977 bios to test here.

My computer at home is an XP, and that's the one that I was able to get to work by simply extracting the presets directly into the Presets folder (don't know if that has anything to do with it).

If I load the X2.4977 bios up, all three dropdown menus only have one option in them. I'm not sure if this is related to the bios, but I just thought I would pass on whatever info I've got for ya.

Cheers

Anyone having problems getting presets or any other drop-down menu items to show, what OS are you using? I got an email report of such problems from someone running Win2k, and Evil Ryu sees this issue on Win98, so I installed VirtualPC and loaded Win2000 onto it to see if I could reproduce it.

What I found:

Yes only one item shows when you click the drop-down menu, but there are small scroll arrows which allow you to scroll through the items. Also, I found that I could highlight the  current menu item and the scroll through the other items using the wheel on my mouse.

So, if it appears that those menus arent working, please check for the scroll arrows.

As for copy/pasting vs. other methods of getting presets into the preset folder, I don't see how that could matter. A file is a file, regardless of how it got to the preset folder.

Sorry I didn't get back a little sooner.  I was out on the road for Thanksgiving and didn't have access to PC.

Anyway, my PC is a Windows 2000 also.  Other drop down menus do work.   My wifes PC which worked fine on Xbtool is a XP machine.  I tried closing and then re-opening Xbtool after the presets were in the Presets folder and this didn't work.   Also tried putting Xbtool in the root directory (in case long filenames was the problem) and this didn't help either.

yeah,... I didn't think that the copy/paste would be causing my problem. But I just checked again (I'm at work with the Win98 computer) and sure as sh*t, if I use the up/down arrows to scroll in the preset dropdown, the presets are there! The small 'scroll arrows' are also there - I guess I just didn't notice them (or never tried clicking on them).

Thanks again for the excellent program and the heads-up on this problem NghtShd!

Hi,

I would just have on question regarding bios 4979.06 and Xbtool.

I opened the bios with xbtool and have only these 4 choices of boot partition & exes :

DVD  default.xbe
1st   evoXdash.xbe
2nd  avadash.xbe
3rd   mxmdash.xbe

And what about xboxdash.xbe...as I'm flashing my TSOP for the first time I don't have any modified dash installed so I would be sure that after the flash it will be able to boot correctly...

Thx
