Revolutionary Idea For Online Gaming (teamxecuter)

Now, first I will say that this has probably been already thought up, but I want to get it out into the open.

The XLink team has been working on a new type of program for system link online play that will not need a PC program to run.  And to tell you the truth, this idea will still be good even if it does need a PC program running, especially if it is set up to start up on startup.

Here goes: Team Xecuter, this is for you. I know that if you guys can build a built-in FTP transfer program into a bios, then this idea shouldn't be much of a problem. Why not create a built-in XLink WGN mode promgram into the bios???????? This idea would be unbelievably awesome!!!!!!!!   Imagine, no more computer fooling around, no more waiting for people to play against, everyone would be connected as soon as they turned on their xbox, just like LIVE. All you would have to do is start up your favorite game, go into System Link, and woah, there are the games ready to play.

So, seriously, wouldn't this be one of the best and most revolutionary pieces of code to hit the xbox scene or what?

Looking forward to you remarks Team Xecuter and I hope to God that you also find this a great idea.

system link doesnt really have good netcode for dealing with internet lag so it wont be just like live (at least not for pre-live games)

and the ftp server does not work while playing a game. its a completely different concept. what you're talking about has been thought about many times before

What HeLiuM said is correct, you cant do what you are asking.  You need to understand the xbox runs 1 .xbe at a time, and thats all the 'built in ftp' was.  Once you start another program/game, the one currently running stops running.

(I'm not member of team xecuter, but you will get the same answer from them)

Hmm, there ought to be a way around this since you can play dvd's in apps like DVD-X and XBMP. If you then make an app that could launch an XBE within itself that would make it possible. Perhaps figure out a way to convert .xbe's into something that can be run inside another app if the x-box specifically blocks out running several xbe's at the same time (even if it is run inside another app).

Anyway, it would be great to have a WGN app running on the xbox all the time like you said Jonny.

Yes, in theory, this would work.
