Some Newbie Help?
« on: September 13, 2003, 06:36:00 PM »

firstly, i'd like to apoligize for posting this at all. i'm sure its a fairly stupid question, and one that a more experienced person could find the answer to on this board in no time... unfortunately, i'm not so savy  :P

now to get down to buisness

the purpose of this thread is to hopefully get detailed (and dumbed down) directions for adding a debug bios to go alongside with the bios currently running my xbox. i need a debug bios to play preview build code for xbox games. as previously said, i have looked through this forum (and xbox-scene in general), and havent heard much specifically for what i need (the majority of questions seem to be about updating the BIOS).

-- i dont know what bios i am currently running, and really dont care much (unless this info is needed), as i dont plan to update to any possible newer version.

hopefully someone can give me some specific tips to go along with the pinned "Newbs Guide to Flashing Your BIOS", or a flat out walk through.

if any further information is needed for a proper response, please ask.

i have an external switch as well as the four switches (as diagramed in the tutorial). do i need to only put 4 in the "on" position, or do i also need to change the other switch setting?

does that make sense?

ok, i flashed my xbox, and everything seems fine (thanks for pointing me in the right direction, and those that wrote or contributed in each tutorial).

i used X2 bios manager to creat a 1mb bios with the first 2 blanks being 256k copys of 4977, and the last 2 being the 512k "TATX_Debug_Dual_VGA_LameOne_beta".

i put the switches 1, 2, and 4 on, and 3 off to boot with the TATX bios (correct?). it loaded with a more green look to it, and went to my evox dash fine. problem is, it still wont boot my MS press discs... is this not the bios i need?
