Opening The Orignal Bios
« on: September 13, 2003, 01:13:00 PM »

I want to open the retail bios 4034 using xbtool but haven't been able to, I can open X2 bioses but not the retail bios.

Is there a way to open the retail bios. I assume I need the RC4 key for that, where do I add this and most important of all is it easy to get hold of and where can I get this, maybe the usual places?

I'm doing all this so that I can convert the retail bios to 512K because I want to flash it to bank 2 so that I can go on live. My XBOX won't boot with the X2.1 Lite disabled

If you want to use this bios to go on live, the last thing you want to do is try to edit it via xbtool.  If you just want to double the 256k bios to 512k, use the x2 bios manager.  Select 512k for the bios size, import the 256k bios into each 'bank' and save.

How do you know which version of the original bios to use in your xbox? Does it matter?

My Xbox is a V1.0 so it has to be a 4034 bios, I also flashed it to bank 2 and it works perfectly.

I'm not too worried about messing up when I flash my chip because I use FlashX and flash only bank 2 with a 512K bios so even if I done a bad flash I can start all over again.

I've never ever used EvoX to flash my chip, don't know why but just don't trust it.

I came across "Bios Retail 4132 and 4626 XBox Complex".. Are these original M$ bioses?

If yes, will I be able to use Live (without getting banned) if I flash these on my X2P?

Thanks
