Bad Partial Flash W/ 4978.03 - V1.1xbox - Thru Ftp

You'll need to flash the X2 Pro from your PC using the programmer.  This should've shipped with your X2 Pro chip back when you received it.

Next time use EvoX to flash your X2 chip, there's a million things that can go wrong with an FTP connection (or ANY network TCP/IP connection for that matter) - packet collisions, packet loss, fragmentation, data corruption, just to name a few.  It's really not a good idea to flash a modchip from an FTP client, even if it's possible.  FTP by its inherent design and implementation is not a stable, secure, or robust way to transfer data.  FTP is there for quick & easy data transfer, not for running vital real-time processes such as BIOS flashing.

The safest way to flash a BIOS is directly from Evox - create a 1MB BIOS image using x2bm, then upload the file to your BIOS directory on C using FlashFXP, once the file is uploaded flash the chip using EvoX on your XBOX.

I don't remember ever receiving the "programmer" you mentioned.

However, I didn't actually flash the bios through the FTP. I put the bios in XBOX root C:, and executed the flashbios command. Usually I go through X2BM1.1. I've never flashed my BIOS through Evox, but I can't even get my XBOX to load at all to flash my bios from EvoX(switches on or off), everything brings me to error 16! This is starting to irritate me.

X2BM can't even find the X2Pro to flash it either. I'm definitely confused here.

How can I get my system back?

Will your XBOX boot when the modchip is DISABLED?  Error 16 is related to the kernel but it can be caused by an incorrect date/time setting.  Try booting to the MS dash and resetting the time, then enable your modchip and try booting from different banks, etc.  the x2_4978 BIOS is 512k (or perhaps you flashed the older, 1MB version on there?), so it will take up at least 2 memory banks.

If that still doesn't solve your issue you'll have to continue to try to flash your X2 Pro from your PC.  The programmer is the device that contains the SERIAL connector that requires a 9V battery or USB connection in order to get power.  If you don't have a programmer I believe you can buy one separately from vendors that sell X2 chips (such as system-mods, for example).

I really don't know what you're talking about when you say "executed the FlashBIOS command".  What dash are you running?  If you're running EvolutionX the flashing is extremely easy - just place your BIOS file in the BIOS folder on C and EvoX will Flash your BIOS when you select "Flash BIOS" from the System Utils menu.

Try resetting your date/time from the M$ dashboard.  It MAY resolve your issue.

Even with my modchip turned off, I can not access my MS dashboard, I still get Error 16. So basically, it's impossible for me to log onto my Xbox without getting some sort of "error 16".

I used the 512k BIOS. But I put it in the root directory on the Xbox. Then I selected FLASH BIOS from the EvoX system settings dash. All I saw was a meter bar, nothing else.

So, I browsed the forums, and read that you have to execute a RAW command from FlashFXP while connected to the FTP in the root directory of the Xbox were the .BIN was located.

The meter bar started progressing, then all of a sudden about 1/3 of the way, it stopped and the rest was history. Take into consideration, I had my bios banks 0,1,2 switched on, and 4 switched off... I think that may have been the problem...

I'm having a hell of a time. I worked on it all day yesterday, and now I'm getting the 00 00 code whenever I hit "Info" in X2BM1.1, so I think it's finding it at least, but everytime I attempt to flash, I get a "verification error".

My question is, can you put a boot disk into your Xbox to solve that problem? Is it possible for your bootdisk to automatically flash the bios back to it's working fashion? Like I said, I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO access to my MS dash, or my EvoX dash, switches off or on. I am using the X2PRO (older chip), and apparently my chip is getting power, because X2BM does find it, but with errors. "Manufacture Code: 00 Device Code: 00"

Ummm...  Sounds good.  A rescue disk that will just flash the modchip when it boots.

I have not seen anything like that yet.  Maybe something for me to work on.

I just tried Slayer Installer v2.1.   It can flash the xbox when it boots up.   It fixed my problem.   It reflashed and I tried the 4978.03 again.

It worked just fine.   I'm not sure what happened before.  So I made a backup Slayer cd.

That's the problem though, I can't even put a boot disk in there, because my Xbox won't accept it (without a mod, I can't!) It's crazy.
