well... thenonly difference between a 4977 and 4978 is the embedded xbe ability.....
so, if you don't want a 4978 with the embedded ability, just use the 4977

IF there are changes, is it possible to remove the xbe and reduce it back to 256k to flash as a regular bios? I don't need the embedded stuff.

There are no other changes other than the ftpd and the boot order.  This is all stated in the NFO.

If you take out the FTP, you have 4977.

4977 boot sequence:

  • evoxdash.xbe
  • nexgen.xbe
  • xboxdash.xbe

I dont ever remember xecuter 'recommending' avalaunch, but it doesnt really matter what the names of the xbe's are.  As long as it boots to something other than xboxdash.xbe.

What is the default boot order with 4977?  I've checked the 4977 and 4978 nfo's and tried searching for it but can't find it?  evoxdash.xbe then xboxdash.xbe?  Weird that avadash.xbe is not in the default boot order for 4977 when it was the 'recommended dashboard by Executer' from way back (listed in their .nfo's).

Think it´s 1. evoxdash.xbe 2.nexgen.xbe 3.xboxdash.xbe

Might be that it´s just the last couple of months that a lot of ppl has been starting to use avalaunch, since it´s becoming more stable and more functions. What version was Ava when 4977 was released? 0.44, 0.45?

This is from the 4977 .nfo :

Official Dashboard Partners 100% X2 & X3 supported: Team Avalaunch www.avalaunch.dk

But they ddin't include avadash.xbe in the list.  Weird.  Anyways, not difficult to just rename the xbe whatever.
