4978 Ftp Problems
« on: August 23, 2003, 10:20:00 PM »

Hey all, I wire intalled my 2.2 pro today and all went well. I flashed with 4978 and have attempted to FTP folders C and E from the X3 0.1a built in FTP to my PC. As soon as I get to some of the larger files in the audio folder of E:, Flash Fxp pukes and trys to reconnect everytime. Should I try forcing 10M Full duplex on my PC NIC? Anyone else having this trouble? I am using a router and the 4978 192.168.0.9 bios from xbins. I could not locate the box at this address. I looked at my router and the DHCP was set to issue starting at 192.168.0.105, sure enough that is where my Xbox was. DHCP after all it appears.

Side note: I kept getting Manufacturer Code: 09 Device Code:00 in X2BM 1.1. Turns out I read the enable switches on the panel upsidedown, and the Dip switches were inversed of their correct setting(1 on 4 Off).  jester.gif

I ended up using Evox. Works great. What's really wierd is that through the 4978 FTP my C and E folder were reporting that C was E and vice versa.Example, when I copied C folder to PC, in it was the E folders  Cache TData and UData?? uhh.gif  Thus copying E, was really copying C. That is why I found the audio folder in E:. How off is that? I was anticipating the 4978 FTP to actually work though, for a pro 2.2. The benefit was for new users like myself, to help with fresh installs or backups. How did this get released? All the lites and cheaps aren't missing anything. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the DHCP tip.  I have been trying to access the Xbox with the 192.168.10.123 address.  I checked my leases and saw one I didn't recognize.  Ftp'ed to it and bam, there was the Xbox!

4978 was built for people who do not have a cd/dvd-burner in order to create a boot-cd. The built-in FTP was designed actually to upload for example the evoX dashboard or any other and then use that FTP to connect to the xbox and upload big files.the ftp of 4978 is only for setting up the xbox.
