Fix For 4978 Bios And X2lite Chips
« Reply #30 on: August 27, 2003, 03:34:00 AM »

Im just looking for the easiest and fastest way to recover this flash.  Since I do not have a cheapmod programmer... I can not just reprogram the chip.  Also... Hotswaping will be a pain since my xbox install is a pinheader and the cheapmod has wires.  Any ideas?

well, you can replace the cheap-mod wth another cheap-mod. you're an installer right ?? so, you must have a couple of cheap-mod laying around...

What we're talking about in this thread (I forget if I'd mentioned it here) is "tricking" the X2Lite into making the entire 1024KB available instead of just 512K at a time.  In your case, making the entire 1024K available will not help if the flash was bad.

You could either install an X2.x or Chameleon onto the pinheader, or use a female pin header socket to which you can solder the cheapmod's wires.

I just got my X2.2lite+ and flashed with 4978, needless to say I got the same problems as everyone else. So I flashed to 4977 with Flash X.  It took over an hour for the progress indicater to finish.  Is this normal?!   Then when I boot with the mod enabled it beeps and shuts down.  Was it a bad flash?  Will an external programmer allow me to reflash after a bad flash?
