No you don't need to solder the tsop. and you have to use the debug rc4 key.

I'm having problems with game freezes. NCAA Football 2004 and Madden NFL 2004 both freeze when trying to go to anything on the menu after pressing start during a game. I went back to 4977 and all was well.
