Bug In The Bios ? Maybe....
« on: July 31, 2003, 05:57:00 PM »

Hi There

I just thought id post my findings to date.

Now I modd/repair the xbox and PC's for a living and find them like lego to work on and can work through most problems. And  a bit about my set-up for doing some work on the electronic stuff.

So I was "attempting" to flash a Executer 2.2lite using the hotswap method via flash bios on the evox menu, on my quick flash bay I have installed on my bench so I can flash chips with out all the hassle of opening up an xbox.

I have flashed this chip type of chip many times before with NO problems. But today i decided to use the 4977 bios, the flash went ok no problems and i was just bout to remove the chip when the bloody thing switched the xbox off......

***************************************** Betwween these lines are my rant at assholes that are of NO use to the forum in ANY way .....................

"For "LOOKFORMEB" (the asshole that babbled some text below, look and laugh guys) i did KNOW that it auto shut down immediatly after flashing the bios "hhmmm maybe the fact that it tells you in evox the the xbox will "NOW SHUT DOWN" might have been a bit of a give away, i just didnt think there was anyone as stupid as YOU to miss that obvious fact" so i never thought i would have to actually explain that simple fact but hey ho you have proved that thick assholes are previlant the world over...........

**************************************************

Ok sorry back to the important stuff.

SO AFTER RE-BOOT it still auto shuts down after approx 20 to 30 seconds  "no flashing L.E.D. sequences or any thing"

so i thinks hmmm whats up here and I threw another chip in  that i knew was working and is worked perfect. So i flashed another x2.2lite and the same thing , so im thinking jeez i must have a bad bios, so off i go and download another copy of the 4977 from two diff places just incase...

So i flashed the chips a few other chips just incase it was a bad batch of chips and i tried them in two other xboxes that i know are working, again and still no joy, so I flashed all the chips  chips again with the old 4976.02 bios and they worked first time no problem.

Has anyone else had any bother with that bios ?]

Any ifo would be a help as im baffled by this.

Regards

um, after you flash the bios from FlashBIOS (it's an asumption you are), it will turn off the box.  you need to turn it back on.

Hi there all
I must say sorry TO EVERYONE for the above post by "lookformeb" as I think he had his head firmly inserted into his anal cavity as the time of posting his "brainfart". either that or it's normal for him to just be a total asshole.

I think I maybe didnt explain it in single sylabils for him to uderstand. So here go's SLOWLY for "lookformeb's" benefit:

AF--TER      FLA--SHING      THE     CH--IP     "AND      AF--TER     THE     ON-SCR--EEN

SH--UT-DO--WN"

 UP--ON       RE-BOO--TING      THE      XB--OX      THE     CH-IP    ST--ILL   SH--UT    DO--WN THE     XB--OX     AU--TO--MA--TIC--ALLY

Now hopfully for the benefit of "lookformeb" that was in simple enough terms. And for the rest of you guys any thoughts ???? (decent ones that is , not like that silly little child above posted)

Gee, I've run the 4977 without a problem. I would think others would be complaining if their 4977 was shutting down after 30 seconds.

This is a virgin (untouched by XBTOOL) 4977 BIOS, and not the "BFM" (Boot From Media) version?

eat shit markduncan!  maybe if in your original post, BEFORE YOU EDITIED IT, you could have worded it as if your problem wasn't that it shut off.  apparently your to incompetent to do that was well as "modd/repair the xbox"for a living.  suck on my junk, beyotch!  and for your information, i wasn't being an asshole before... i filled in the blank YOU left out but now, yeah, im being an asshole

<EDIT>btw, if you keep calling people assholes for your mistakes, you wont be in business very long because your only source of help wont feel like helping you.  personally, i hope you get solder in your eye.  have a great day!</EDIT>

markduncan, exactly what the hell is your problem?  I can only imagine your original post, before you edited it, said "I flashed my BIOS and my Xbox shut off.  Why?"  I don't see anything inappropriate in lookformeb's post.  I also see he DIDN'T edit his.  You're flying off the handle for no good reason.  Good luck getting ANY support with that arrogant attitude.  Thread locked.

EDIT:  Crappy punctuation the first time...
