Flashed New X2 Bios
« on: July 22, 2003, 07:23:00 AM »

you either need to do a hot swap... or buy a programmer.  If you have the same chip as a friend then i would do a hot swap, but if you dont you're going to need to buy a programmer, they're only like 22 bucks with shipping and it works great if you can find a PC that it accepts.  Also 4973 is an OLD bios and if you have an x2lite then you need a 1mb (1024k) bios not 256.
get x2 4977 1mb

good luck

Get X2 BIOS manager, that lets you easily make a 256k into a 1mb. when you load the program it will have four banks on the right, load the 4977 bios into each of the four banks.

Note:

If you want to have 2 different bioses on your chip then load the first into banks 1+2 and the second into banks 3+4. then flash your X2.2 with this 1mb file.

Likely you flashed the BIOS into a 1.1 version Xbox, and it's FAR from the latest (which is 4977). 4973 is relatively "old" and only boots version 1.0 Xboxes. If you do not understand the different versions of Xbox, then educate yourself.

If you don't know what you are doing, DON'T DO IT.

Read - read the tutorials, read the various posts, get familiar and COMFORTABLE with modding in general and above all, understand exactly what it is you are trying to do and how EXACTLY you need to do it.

Instead of blowing money on a programmer right away, I would suggest trying other solutions.  Try flashing with the OZXFlash utility and the 4977 bios.  If it doesnt load at all, There is another solution but it is only theoretical.  If you have ur evox dashboard as xboxdash.xbe then simply turn off your modchip, and the xbox should boot to the evox dash. from there you can just flash the chip with the correct bios.  Please note that this is theoretical and has not been tried.  I'd appreciate it if someone could clear this one up for me.

None of those methods will work.  The ozxflash requires the linux bios and the xbox wont run unsigned code with the original bios.

OK it got the Xecuter2.Build.4977 Bios... The "X2_4977.bin" is only 256kb small, but there is a file called "make1mb.bat". But double-click on it has no effekt, the same if I execute it in a DOS-CMD Window... I'm using Windows 2000 what to do?

From a DOS window, type
CODE
make1mb.bat X2_4977.bin X2_4977_1mb.bin

I am guessing, but I think it is possible if you have evox as evoxdash.xbe and ms dash as xboxdash.xbe, turn off the xecutor2 boot like a not moded box and use an exploit technique to re flash the xecutor2.  This way you save your money not buying a flashing kit.

Hope some one can light us.
