4977 Rumors
« on: July 15, 2003, 03:41:00 AM »

Ok here is my post.

1 people say that with bios 4977 you do not need to patch the games anymore that have the media check. I seen people saying even with the bios they still need to patch it

2 when people get problems patching a game people never tell them that there are 2 kinds of games there are certain ones that the xbe patchers can't fix you need to use a hex editor to edit the keys. for example midnight club, The Hulk and enter the matrix if someone needs help patching these games that cant be patched with the xbe patcher I can help send me a message.

3. I have an xbox with a 120 gig HD My ethrnet port on it is fried so I cant ftp to my computer. I can only add and remove games using hdloader so that means to me that I cannot patch the games then send them back to my xbox does that means I am screwed with games that need patching? to store them on my HD. I will be able to add bios or any file necessary by burning it into a dvd-r and putting it where it is nedded using Hdloader. Any Ideas?

4. how can I fix a fried ethernet port? it is part of the motherboard

1. games made recently ie. (etm, x2 wolverines revenge, hulk etc.) have a SECOND media check, as opposed to the older style games (halo, amped, bloodrayne etc.) which only has one media check. x2 4977 bypasses this second media check, thats why you need it to run newer games.

2. enter the matrix needs patching because the file names are longer then 42 characters, so it patches the xbe and changes filenames to shorter to fit on the xbox hdd.

3. i use boXplorer, i doubt anyone would create a patching type software to run on xbox alone, but it may be possible.

4. i have no clue, buy a new motherboard? (i'm sure a more advanced x-freak will have a better answer)

how did you fry it?

Just FYI, X2 4976.02 bypasses the check as well.

Every X2 BIOS starting with 4975 (this includes 4976, 4976.02, and 4977) patches the second media check (7D -> EB).  If ANYONE (this includes you, UsMarine) says that they still had to apply a patch to a game, it is a clear indication that they were doing something WRONG.  I have seen this time and again, and I'm getting tired of people placing blame elsewhere.

Discussion CLOSED.
