Which Bios To Choose?
« on: July 12, 2003, 05:51:00 PM »

Okay sorry but I cant edit the title so dont hate. Now, I decided to go with the Evo-X D.6 BLUE BIOS but I have a couple questions, the RAR comes with the 256k BIOS and another folder with the files 2bl.img, remainder.img, and xboxkrnl.img. What should I do with these files? Should I put them in the Evo-X Dashboard BIOS folder with the 256k BIOS?

The only useful file(to put on your xbox) that comes in the downloaded archive(rar, zip) is the *.bin file...
The others are for use with your pc.

That has nothing to do with it.

You're right, I apologize.  I read it as, "Why would I use an X2 BIOS when I have an Apple-X III chip???"

X2 4977 is newer than any of the EvoX BIOSes and it patches all the current copy-protections.

Yes, we know...  Just as an FYI, I can't see fit to recommend it over 4976.02 to all users because Eject Fix is not always a good thing.  Ask those using the Matrix in mode 3 and trying to connect to Live.

I heard something about the 4977 being bad because it loads the BIOS into memory??

Thats odd: I emailed AppleTech and they said the card is shipped with the latest Executer2 BIOS. We'll have to see when I install it tomorrow.

Why did you even bother with this topic...
You should have said I am buying an apple-x III  dry.gif
Also it pays off to try to learn instead of just asking questions.. The answers are usually out there... find them yourself...

Does it matter if its installed or not? I am about to install it......but anyways.....these forums are for statements AND questions. I had many more but I used my resources, so I only have a couple now.

edit: let me rephrase that, the xbox loads the bios into the memory from the modchip. it's not dependent of the bios.

To expound on that, the Xbox loads the BIOS into memory regardless of the BIOS and regardless of where the flash ROM is.  X2 BIOS, Cromwell BIOS, MS retail BIOS.....a BIOS on a mod chip, a BIOS on the onboard TSOP....it doesn't matter - they all get cached on boot.
