No, the retail BIOSes have different RC4 keys. Check Xbins for an assortment.

If you look on your mobo and hd, there should be a label that tells you what kernel you have. That's the one you have to put on your xbox.

You must use the 4817 kernel, but you can use XBTool or xecuter bios manager to make the bios 1 meg.

I thought 1.1 - 1.2 - 1.3 all had the same RC4 key.

not sure about the keys, but I know the dashboard and bios kernal do have to match... they're all available in the "usual" places , so just match them up to minimize the drama...

No, you must use a 1 meg bios. Like I said earlier, there are programs available that allow you to change the size of the bios.
